Scope

The objectives of COUPLED PROBLEMS 2021 are to present and discuss state of the art, mathematical models, numerical methods and computational techniques for solving coupling problems of multidisciplinary character in science and engineering. The conference goal is to make step forward in the formulation and solution of real life problems with a multidisciplinary vision, accounting for all the complex couplings involved in the physical description of the problem.

The conference is one of the Thematic Conferences of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) and a Special Interest Conference of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM). It is also supported by other scientific organizations in Europe and worldwide.

A special issue of Mathematical and Computational Applications journal will be finalized at the end of the conference. Contributions will be by invitation

The previous eight editions of this conference were held on the islands of Santorini (Greece) on 25-28 May 2005, Ibiza (Spain) on 21-23 May 2007, Ischia (Italy) on 8-11 June 2009, Kos (Greece) on 20-22 June 2011, Ibiza (Spain) on June 17 - 19 June 2013, San Servolo, Venice, Italy on May 18 - 20 2015, on Rhodes Island, Greece on June 12 - 14 2017 and in Sitges, Spain on June 3-5, 2019

Scope

The objectives of Structural Membranes 2021 are to collect and disseminate state-of-the-art research and technology for design, analysis, construction and maintenance of textile and inflatable structures. The conference will address both the theoretical bases for structural analysis and the numerical algorithms necessary for efficient and robust computer implementation. A significant part of the conference will be devoted to discuss advances in new textile composites for applications in membrane and inflatable structures in the building and construction sectors, as well as in innovative design, construction and maintenance procedures.

Structural Membranes 2021 aims to be a forum for discussing recent progress and identifying future research directions in the field of textile composites and inflatable structures.

Structural Membranes 2021 will be supported by the IASS. It will also be a Thematic Conference of the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) and a Special Interest Conference of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM).

Scope

Numerical Modeling and Simulation are increasingly used as a complementary tool to Experimental Modeling and Analysis and as a design or certification tool in engineering applications. However, after more than thirty years of scientific investigation around Adaptive Modeling and Simulation, the problem of properly assessing and controlling the quality of the numerical solutions still represents a relevant issue in the scientific community. Nowadays, it is well-established that a certain maturity has been reached in this context, as well as calculations for industrial applications can be verified and error bounds can be provided in many cases. Nevertheless, the design of sophisticated engineering systems requires increasingly complex and coupled modeling and verification tools are still lacking in these cases. Furthermore, new challenges characterize the actual industrial demands, such as fast calculations for real-time decision making, design optimization, inverse analysis, simulation-based control, in particular in the presence of uncertainty.

The main goal of ADMOS 2021 is to provide a forum for presenting and discussing the current state-of-the-art achievements on Adaptive Modeling and Simulation, including theoretical models, numerical methods, algorithmic strategies and challenging engineering applications.

ADMOS 2021 is jointly organized by Chalmers University of Technology, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and CIMNE and it is promoted by the European Committee in Solids and Structural Mechanics (ECSSM) of ECCOMAS. ADMOS is one of the conferences that launched the ECCOMAS series of thematic conferences. The previous editions were held successively in Göteborg in 2003, Barcelona in 2005, Göteborg in 2007, Bruxelles in 2009, Paris in 2011, Lisbon in 2013, Nantes in 2015, in Verbania, Italy in 2017 and in El Campello (Alicante) in 2019.

COMPLAS 2021 is the 16^th conference of the COMPLAS Series.

The COMPLAS conferences started in 1987 and since then have become established events in the field of computational plasticity and related topics. The first fifteen conferences in the COMPLAS series were all held in the city of Barcelona (Spain) and were very successful from the scientific, engineering and social points of view. We intend to make the 16th edition of the conference another successful edition of the COMPLAS meetings.

The objectives of COMPLAS 2021 are to address both the theoretical bases for the solution of nonlinear solid mechanics problems, involving plasticity and other material nonlinearities, and the numerical algorithms necessary for efficient and robust computer implementation. COMPLAS 2021 aims to act as a forum for practitioners in the nonlinear structural mechanics field to discuss recent advances and identify future research directions.

Scope

About PADRI-2017

The main objective of the Open Workshop PADRI2017 (http://congress.cimne.com/padri-2017/frontal/default.asp) is to find candidate flow control technologies and optimization strategies that can minimize shock wave and interference drag in the strut-wing junction region in cruise condition. 

The ECCOMAS Industry Interest Group (IIG) is actively promoting the ECCOMAS Advanced Workshop PADRI. 
The high level objective of this workshop is to strengthen the ECCOMAS industrial group and to develop contact between ECCOMAS and the DGs of the European Commission. 

PADRI2017 proposes a test case reproducing, even at low velocity, a typical shock wave pattern in the region of the junction strut-wing of an aircraft.  In order to simplify the problem, some constraints have been setup, so that the geometrical modifications should be confined to a defined small region around the strut-wing junction, and the objective function is clearly explained in order to ensure computational data results comparisons across all the technology solutions and participants. 
A computational platform will allow all participants to compare on outputs and formats selected by organizers their respective data results installed on a Database with respect to the reference (baseline) and to show the benefit of the chosen flow control technology. 

The workshop intends to contribute to fill the gap between the different technology models and their application. 

Technical Description of the Test Case 

Strut wing test case is based on an unformatted geometry of an aircraft with upper wing, which is supported by a strut. The geometry includes the entire aircraft with tail and empennage, but simplifications can be applied if necessary, discarding the empennage and tail, or considering symmetry. 
The flow conditions are summarized as: Mach 0.72, angle of attack 1º, Reynolds number over length 7.1x106 m-1, cruise altitude 30000ft on an atmosphere ISA+0 with pressure 30089.59 Pa, and temperature 228.71K.

The main focus should be put on the region of the strut-wing junction in the mentioned cruise conditions, analyzing the shock wave and the interference drag in this particular region.
The definition of the best flow control device, which helps to diminish the shock and the drag, is the main objective and should be demonstrated through the analysis of the simulation results.
