Abstract

This paper approach the study of transmedia phenomenon as a set of relationships that involves not only intertextual narrative conditions, but also anthropological. With two goals: first, to structure a system that serves intertextual analysis tool to own transmedia products of the culture industry and the second, to generate possible keys to be used as a pedagogical strategy in the classroom to encourage reading and writing in conjunction with other symbolic systems. So, the article introduces the reader to the phenomenon of transmediality, which is then reviewed proposals from Henry Jenkins and Marsha Kinder that serve as material for developing a transmedia Intertextual System, which applied as a methodology for the analysis of a case of the entertainment industry, The Walking Dead ®.

From the above and way of results, the text identifies key for this type of transmedia systems, which are applied as instructional strategies for teaching in basic education levels in secondary and high schools, as evidenced in the The Odyssey study. Finally, in conclusion exposes the importance of exploring the possibilities offered by the study and reflection transmedial in areas that transcend the world of entertainment.

Abstract

Based on our assertion that current record preservation systems are not feasible in the long term for reasons of scale and cost, we explore the current technological environment where records are created, paying special attention to phenomena such as distributed systems, cloud computing and web 2.0. In two future articles 1) we will explore the social environment where this creation is performed, with special attention to the lack of interest in memory and accountability, and 2) we will suggest a potential scenario for recordkeeping that archivists will have to address at the short term.

El periodismo deportivo se ha caracterizado por una serie de deficiencias éticas que han soslayado los estándares normativos de la profesión. Los instrumentos de rendición de cuentas pueden jugar un papel valioso para superar estas disfunciones. Teniendo esto en mente, el artículo identifica y examina los mecanismos de rendición de cuentas más relevantes en el ámbito del periodismo deportivo, incluidos aquellos producidos de forma interna y externa a los medios. Los investigadores han inspeccionado los códigos éticos en esta área, los libros de estilo promovidos por los principales medios deportivos y las prescripciones formuladas por las agencias informativas, medios de información generalistas y organismos clave a nivel internacional. Prácticas innovadoras como los chats, redes sociales, defensores del lector en línea, observatorios y blogs también se han identificado como ejemplos positivos del cultivo de una conversación bidireccional sobre los estándares y la calidad de los contenidos deportivos. AbstractSports journalism has been characterized by a series of ethical deficiencies that have challenged the normative standards of the profession. Media accountability instruments can play an invaluable role in addressing these shortcomings. With this in mind, this article identifies and examines the most relevant accountability instruments in the field of sports journalism, including those produced within media organizations and those created outside of them. The researchers have scrutinized the specialized codes in this area and the stylebooks promoted by major sports media, as well as the recommendations proposed by news agencies, general information outlets and key stakeholders worldwide. Innovative practices such as chats, social media, online ombudsmen, observatories and blogs have also been identified as positive examples of the cultivation of a two-way conversation about the standards for and quality of sports content.

Abstract

SUMMARY As a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been used considerably to solve hierarchical or network-based decision problems in socio-economic fields. Following an in-depth explanation of the transport function in logistics and an overview of the MCDM methods, the AHP model is employed in the paper for a logistics company in selecting the most suitable way of transportation between two given locations in Turkey. The criteria used in the selection of transportation modes are identified as the cost, speed, safety, accessibility, reliability, environmental friendliness, and flexibility. Several cost parameters (transportation, storage, handling, bosphorus crossover) are incorporated into the decision-making process. The application is carried out in instructional character. The results of the study indicate that the railway transportation, which is not widely used in Turkey, is also an alternative and suitable means of transportation. Abstract

The European Commission has a strong compromise in matter of developing eco-friendly designs for airborne systems to reduce both manufacturing and in-service contamination related to those elements. One of the main approaches in this sense is to substitute metal parts by stiff, light-weight, multifunctional and recyclable polymer-based compounds which allow eliminating hazardous surface treatments and also permit reusing the materials at the end of life of the components.

In this framework, ECOFUNEL project was launched by Liebherr Aerospace SAS with the consortium formed by FIDAMC, CTAG and CANOE, and with the financial support of the European Commission under the Clean Sky 2 initiative. The work aims to giving alternatives to current metal valve bodies of air conditioning systems for aircraft, by investigating the use of thermoplastic while addressing the challenge of keeping sufficient electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of the part.

The research line put the focus on the development of new functionalized material formulations based on high performance injection molding thermoplastic compounds with enhanced electrical feature. New formulations are designed, produced and studied systematically within ECOFUNEL and a final prototype element will be created employing the ad-hoc own-designed materials.

Abstract

The continuous network design problem (CNDP) is known to be difficult to solve due to the intrinsic properties of non-convexity and nonlinearity. Such kinds of CNDP can be formulated as a bi-level programme, in which the upper level represents the designer's decisions and the lower level the travellers' responses. Formulations of this kind can be classified as either Stackelberg approaches or Nash ones according to the relationship between the upper level and the lower level parts. This paper formulates the CNDP for road expansion based on Stackelberg game where leader and follower exist, and allows for variety of travellers' behaviour in choosing their routes. In order to solve the problem by the Stackelberg approach, we need a relation between link flows and design parameters. For this purpose, we use a logit route choice model, which provides this in an explicit closed-form function. This model is applied to two example road networks to test and briefly compare the results between the Stackelberg and Nash approaches to explore the differences between them.

Abstract

utomated driving can fundamentally change road transportation and improve quality of life. However, at present, the role of humans in automated vehicles (AVs) is not clearly established. Interviews were conducted in April and May 2015 with twelve expert researchers in the field of Human Factors (HF) of automated driving to identify commonalities and distinctive perspectives regarding HF challenges in the development of AVs. The experts indicated that an AV up to SAE Level 4 should inform its driver about the AV’s capabilities and operational status, and ensure safety while changing between automated and manual modes. HF research should particularly address interactions between AVs, human drivers, and vulnerable road users. Additionally, driver training programs may have to be modified to ensure that humans are capable of using AVs. Finally, a reflection on the interviews is provided, showing discordance between the interviewees’ statements—which appear to be in line with a long history of human factors research—and the rapid development of automation technology. We expect our perspective to be instrumental for stakeholders involved in AV development and instructive to other parties.
