Abstract

In highway construction projects, labor-oriented work is an integral part of the management process, requiring analysis of factors affecting labor productivity during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research identified 53 influential factors affecting construction labor productivity at selected cities and towns in Cagayan Valley Region, Philippines. Due to the pandemic, the construction industries incurred substantial profit losses. More so, the construction workers are too much affected because of the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) imposed by the local government. Results indicated there was laxity on the Covid-19 protocols. No health worker in the project site ranked the highest in the health & safety factor group with an RII of 0.97 and ranked 1st among 53 factors on the different groups. Besides, no safety engineer was assigned to the projects and ranked 2nd with an RII of 0.93. Among the 7 groups of factors, the health and safety group ranked 1st with 0.81, followed by the schedule compression group with an RII of 0.78. Hence, these two groups of factors have a strong relationship, as evidenced by the number of workers reduced. It was learned that the contractors’ strategy was to increase the number of working days to cope with their schedules. Hypothesis testing supported that there are various significant factors influencing labor productivity loss during the Covid-19 pandemic, as suggested by more than 50% of the respondents.

Abstract

In this paper we estimate the degree of producer price rigidity in the Russian economy and identify the response of various industries to monetary policy shocks, taking into account the heterogeneity of the rigidity parameter. The first part of the paper reviews theoretical approaches to modeling producer price rigidity, including models in which price revisions depend either only on time, or only on the state of the economy, as well as a hybrid pricing model.

Abstract

The paper assesses the impact of the expected market size on the stimulation of the technological development of Russian durable goods manufacturing companies. The work is structured as follows: the first chapter examines theoretical foundations of analyzing the impact of demand on the productivity and innovation activity of the companies, and examines the key sources of productivity growth and technological progress. The second chapter presents an analysis of indicators of the market size for durable goods in Russia, as well as data for Russian durable goods producers. The third chapter presents the empirical strategy and the results of the empirical assessment of the influence of market size on productivity and innovation, including for certain sectors of durable goods production. The fourth chapter analyzes the main measures of economic policy in the field of increasing productivity through the market channel. The main conclusions of the study and recommendations are presented at the end of the work

Abstract

The paper assesses the impact of the COVID-19 spread and measures of government support on the firms' productivity dynamics, its sectoral and regional heterogeneity. The work is structured as follows: the first section presents an analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 shock on various sectors of the Russian economy, examines the dynamics of firms' performance during the COVID-19, its industry and regional features, and systematizes a list of government measures to support enterprises during the COVID-19. The second section provides a literature review assessing the impact of supply and demand shocks, as well as state support measures on firms' performance, and discusses the basis for analyzing various aspects of firms' productivity. The third section presents the empirical strategy and the results of the empirical assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 shock and the support measures on the productivity of firms, provides within-firm and between-firm effects of COVID-19, its selection and reallocation effects. At the end of the work, the main conclusions of the study and recommendations are presented.

Abstract

La productivitat amb que s’utilitzen els recursos és crucial per a les millores sostingudes de renda. Les anàlisis preliminars entre l’any 2000 i 2019 assenyalen entre una feblesa en l’evolució relativa de la productivitat a Catalunya, un fet que és coherent amb la pèrdua de posicions relatives en el PIB per habitant respecte a les principals economies avançades.

Primer, aquesta anàlisi proporciona una comparativa de l’evolució de la productivitat agregada de Catalunya, en relació a les economies més avançades. Segon, s’aborden les tendències en productivitat total dels factors (PTF), productivitat del treball i del capital, en 22 sectors d’activitat de l’economia catalana. Tercer, es proporciona una anàlisi de quins són els sectors que més contribueixen a l’evolució agregada dels indicadors de productivitat. Finalment, es descompon el creixement de la productivitat en efectes intra-sectorials i de canvi estructural.

Fins a quin punt la feblesa de la productivitat és generalitzada des d’un punt de vista sectorial? Com ha canviat el patró sectorial de l’evolució de la productivitat entre les diferents etapes? Quin paper han jugat les diferències inter i intra sectorials? Entendre aquestes qüestions ens ha de permetre fer un balanç de la productivitat, un dels principals reptes que afronta l’economia catalana.
