This article is focused on the use of the news sources by Print Media in incident & crime reports. Official sources and agencies have a greater presence in analyzed newspapers. The Police is the major official and specialized source, and EFE Agency is the mostly quoted by journalists. The unofficial sources more often used by reporters are, in first place, the unidentified or confidential sources (commonly quoted generically as “according to consulted sources”) following the family and neighborhood sources. Graphic sources are becoming increasingly important in crime & incident reports and come mostly from photographers working for the newspapers and agencies. Reporters employ a large number of sources inadequately identified.

The article is an historical and journalistic study about El Caso, an events weekly newspaper, which was published during 40 years in Spain. We analyze the historic evolution of this publication, from Franco’s dictatorship to the coming of the democracy, as well as its style and its striking covers. This newspaper was one of the most successful in Spain over the 20th century, was a remarkable example of profitable popular press, and its director, Eugenio Suárez, created one of the first Spanish Media groups.

The article analyzes and describes the thematic contents of incident reports in the press. Incident reports belong to the area of specialized journalism, because of the topic it deals and broadcasts. Most of its contents are related to bad news. The two major thematic categories of incident reports are crimes and accidents. The types of incidents that are mainly featured in the press are homicides, traffic accidents, drug dealing and burglary.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar las características de los accidentes de trabajo y discapacidad en los policías Municipales de Iribarren del Estado Lara. El estudio estuvo enmarcado en una investigación de campo descriptiva, transversal. Se seleccionó una población objetivo de 297 trabajadores de dicho cuerpo de seguridad. Se aplicó un cuestionario previamente validado mediante el juicio de tres expertos, utilizando la técnica de la entrevista, con el fin de determinar los aspectos sociodemográficos y laborales de los policías, las características epidemiológicas y laborales de los accidentes de trabajo, las características clínicas y laborales de los accidentes de trabajo y la discapacidad según aspectos clínicos- legales. Los resultados más significativos fueron: 37,71% de los policías tenían edades comprendidas 33-37 años, 88,55 % eran del sexo masculino, su grado de instrucción era secundaria en 50.84%, %, el estado civil es casado 54,88%, tenían turno mixto el 84,85%, el rango operativo 94,61 %, el 41,08 % de los policías eran oficiales agregados, en cuanto a la antigüedad laboral es de 6 a 10 años en un 51,85 %. La frecuencia de accidente fue 59.60%, de los instrumentos causantes del accidente fueron armas de fuego 57,85%, la actividad realizada al momento del accidente fue el patrullaje en 22,60%, el tipo de accidente fue por el hecho en 51,98%, el 73,45% de los policías no notifico el accidente, el sitio anatómico más afectado fueron los miembros superiores 27,68%, la severidad de la lesión fue grave en 42,37%, el tipo de discapacidad más común fue la parcial permanente en 38,42%. Este estudio es un aporte para la Policía Municipal y para organizaciones similares, pues sus resultados proporcionan datos estadísticos que pudieran servir para la realización de programas preventivos que permitan buscar soluciones al problema de los accidentes de trabajo y la discapacidad.

Who is responsible for accidents in highly automated systems? How do we apportion liability among the various participants in complex socio-technical organisations? How can different liability regulations at different levels (supranational, national, local) be harmonized? How do we provide for accountability, while promoting safety? These and other questions are being addressed by the ALIAS (Addressing Liability Impact of Automated Systems) project. In this paper we present the outline framework of the project, its objectives, and some preliminary results: in particular, we present a framework for liability in aviation, an analysis of real accidents and of a hypothetical case involving UAS according to a methodology developed in the project, and finally, we introduce the Legal Case, that is a methodological tool (currently under development) aimed at identifying and addressing liability issues of automated ATM systems."br

Due to the fact of activity, environment and work dynamics, the construction industry is characterised by high accident rates. Different initiatives have emerged to reduce these figures, which focus on using new methodologies and technologies for safety management. Therefore, it is essential to know the key factors and their influence on safety in construction projects (fSCPs) to focus efforts on these elements. Through a systematic literature review, based on PRISMA methodology, this article identifies, describes and categorises 100 factors that affect construction safety. It thus contributes by providing a comprehensive general framework, unifying previous studies focused on specific geographic areas or case studies with factors not considered or insufficiently disaggregated, along with an absence of classifications focused on understanding where and how factors affect the different dimensions of construction projects. The 100 factors identified are described and categorised according to the dimensions and aspects of the project in which these have an impact, along with identifying whether they are shaping or immediate factors or originating influences for the generation of accidents. These factors, their description and classification are a key contribution to improving the systematic creation of safety and generating training and awareness materials to fully develop a safety culture in organisations.
