Abstract

In the spatial design fields such as architectural design and urban design, a consensus-building process among a variety of stakeholders like project executors, architects, residents, users, and general citizens is required. New technological developments such as cloud computing and Virtual Design Studios (VDS) enable the creation of virtual meeting systems. This paper proposes an approach towards a synchronous distributed design meeting system. In this paper, in addition to sharing a 3D virtual space for a synchronous distributed type design meeting, we developed a prototype system that enables participants to sketch or make annotations and have discussions as well as add viewpoints to them. We applied these functions to evaluate an architectural design and urban landscape examination. In conclusion, the proposed method was evaluated as being effective and feasible. Yet, it shows a few shortcomings including the fact that simultaneous operation is limited to one client, and more arbitrary shapes should be supported in future versions of the application.

Abstract

Die derzeitigen Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft im Rahmen von Digitalisierung und Digitaler Transformation stellen enorme Anforderungen an die Informatik und Wirtschaftsinformatik. Nur durch die aktiv getriebene Weiterentwicklung und den gezielten Einsatz von IT-Technologien, -verfahren und -methoden können wir es schaffen, uns den Herausforderungen unserer Zeit erfolgreich zu stellen und nachhaltige, zielkonforme, wirtschaftliche Lösungen zu entwickeln. Beispieldomänen hierfür sind das agile Management (lokal und global) bei sich ändernden politischen und wirtschaftlichen Randbedingungen (z.B. Brexit), das flexible Steuern und Überwachen großer Verkehrs- und -Versorgungsnetze, das Schaffen und Betreiben agiler effizienter Unternehmensverbünde und die Energiewende. Wesentliche Aspekte hierfür sind „agilitätsbegünstigende“ und transparente Modellierung sowie die Optimierung von Prozessen und die Planung und Steuerung von effizienten und nachhaltigen Ressourcennutzungen. Der Workshop adressiert Aspekte der transparenten Modellierung, der Optimierung und der Simulation hochkomplexer Systeme im o.g. Sinne. Im Vergleich zu seinen Vorgängerworkshops fällt der MOC 2019, bezogen auf den vorgesehenen zeitlichen Umfang, gering aus. Neben der Beitragspräsentation liegen die Schwerpunkte auf kooperativem Brainstorming und Diskussion der thematisierten Aspekte. Hierfür sind impulsgebende Slots zu den Themengebieten „Shapley-Wert“ sowie „Deklarativität und KI“ vorgesehen. Generell soll der Workshop Fachleuten, Anwendern und Interessierten die Möglichkeit zum Austausch und zur nutzbringenden Diskussion von Ideen, Ansätzen, Verfahren und Problemlösungen geben, wobei hierbei idealer Weise Grundlagen für zukünftige, im o.g. Sinne zielführende, Forschungsarbeiten entstehen sollen.

Abstract

In Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) projects, the tagging or annotation of objects is usually performed in a flexible and non-constrained manner. Contributors to a VGI project are normally free to choose whatever tags they feel are appropriate to annotate or describe a particular geographic object or place. In OpenStreetMap (OSM), the Map Features part of the OSM Wiki serves as the de-facto rulebook or ontology for the annotation of features in OSM. Within Map Features, suggestions and guidance on what combinations of tags to use for certain geographic objects are outlined. In this paper, we consider these suggestions and recommendations and analyse the OSM database for 40 cities around the world to ascertain if contributors to OSM in these urban areas are using this guidance in their tagging practices. Overall, we find that compliance with the suggestions and guidance in Map Features is generally average or poor. This leads us to conclude that contributors in these areas do not always tag features with the same level of annotation. Our paper also confirms anecdotal evidence that OSM Map Features is less influential in how OSM contributors tag objects. Document type: Article
