Abstract

Blockchain technology was born with the bitcoin cryptocurrency and has been seen as a revolutionary technology since it became possible to design smart contracts and tokens based on it. It has been possible to export this innovation to the most diverse fields, including the culture and entertainment industry and media. However, and after six years of developing different models to incorporate blockchain into journalism, an integrated model to act as a reference in this field is still lacking. After analyzing and grouping the wide potential of blockchain in journalism into so-called regimes, this work points out both promising and failed projects in each of the three regimes proposed, viz. registration, economic, and organizational. It is concluded that, despite the very interesting developments regarding the registration regime and intellectual property protection, on the one hand, and economic regime and tokenization, on the other, the inherent decentralized configuration of blockchain currently represents a large obstacle to the construction of an integrated model for its use in journalism.

Historically, women have been underrepresented in technical careers, those related to finance, and in entrepreneurship. However, recent trends indicate significant advances for women in these fields, driven by greater access to education, political initiatives for gender equality, and the evolving landscape of the financial industry. The unique perspectives and innovative approaches of women contribute substantially to decision-making processes, promoting inclusive economic growth and creative entrepreneurship. Nevertheless, challenges such as unequal access to financing and the absence of support networks persist.

The article aims to deepen the understanding of how a regulated technological framework, specifically the "Pilot Regime for Market Infrastructures based on Distributed Ledger Technology" initiated by the European Union, can mitigate barriers and foster female participation and entrepreneurship in the financial and technological sectors. The article will examine the role of women in finance, technology, and entrepreneurship, focusing on the factors influencing their participation, including barriers, opportunities, experience, and leadership skills. The study is particularly relevant in the context of emerging decentralized financial systems, which could have unprecedented potential to address the gender gap in finance.

El artículo analiza el impacto que genera el uso de la tecnología blockchain en el sector financiero y profundiza en la actualidad de la regulación y los retos a los que esta se enfrenta. El Reglamento (UE) 2022/858 del Parlamento Europeo y del Consejo de 30 de mayo de 2022, conocido como Reglamento de Régimen Piloto, reconoce expresamente la posibilidad de que los instrumentos financieros tradicionales se contengan en tecnología de registro descentralizado, dando carta de naturaleza legal a la incorporación de este nuevo modelo tecnológico al sector financiero, y abriendo las puertas a la disrupción que ello supone. Asimismo, dicha norma establece las líneas maestras para la construcción de un régimen piloto de infraestructuras de mercado a nivel europeo, con una limitación en cuanto a la tipología de instrumentos y su capitalización que permita controlar los riesgos asociados. El artículo explorará la realidad actual de este proceso transformador y abordará, desde una visión crítica y comparativa con el paradigma tradicional, si dicho marco normativo permitirá aplicar al mercado secundario todas las potenciales ventajas derivadas del uso de la tecnología, como la posibilidad de contar con mercados 24/7, habilitar operaciones entre particulares con la consiguiente reducción de intermediarios y costes, y la democratización del acceso a la inversión y a la liquidez de la misma o si, por el contrario, estamos ante una tendencia con limitaciones intrínsecas que no puede cumplir la promesa de revolucionar el sector financiero.
