Night Lights in Determining and Assessing Socio-economic Processes

Abstract

The dynamics of night lights in the visible range of the spectrum on land in the long term correlates with population density, GDP and with technological progress in general. Currently, large arrays of satellite images are available that allow a retrospective analysis of this correlation over the past 30 years.
