Abstract

Concerns about inequality have increased exponentially. First evidence came from wage inequality in Anglo-Saxon countries in the 80’s decade. Cities are the stage of inequality, where it develops in social unrest and political struggle. Large cities have been the main focus of research about urban inequality. Lack of appropriate data has prevented the study of the issue in Catalonian cities. We have developed a method to circumvent this lack, using data from Census and from Wage Structure Survey. This paper presents a study of wage income inequality in the second rank cities of Catalonia. We analyze the main determinants of wage income inequality for two cross-section of data (2001-2011).
