Abstract

methodological approach is presented for the human-centered development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). A procedure has been developed for the objective evaluation of potential impacts of ADAS usage on traffic safety. The procedure is based on the observation and analysis of the emergence resp. avoidance of driving errors (inadequate speed, insufficient safe distance, etc.) in conjunction with the usage of ADAS. Driving errors are assumed to occur by the coaction of functional ADAS features, the situational context and (psychological) behavioral backgrounds. The applicability of the approach is examplified with a simulated ADAS.
