Se demuestra así la gran variedad funcional de esta forma métrica de breve extensión, cuya aparición oscila entre el 1,28% (18 vv.) en la primera versión de La vida es sueño de 1636 y el 8,59% (192 vv.) en El tesoro escondido de 1679.In this article, the author studies the poetic form of the silva in its two major metrical variants, the hendecasyllable and the heptasyllable, as found in 18 autos sacramentales by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, dated between 1634 and 1678. The author emphasizes three modalities identified in these works: the initial or thematic silva, which functions as a preamble; the middle silva, which, in its short mode, may be a hymn or an encomium, and, in its long form, a deictic exposition; and the intermittent silva, which has an exhortative purpose. The autor demonstrates the functional variety of a poetic form whose appearance oscillates between 18 poetic lines (1.28%) in the 1636 version of La vida es sueño and 192 lines (8.59%) in El tesoro escondido of 1679.
