About me

Dr. Sergio Oller is Civil Engineer and is currently Full Professor of Structural Mechanics at the Technical University of Catalonia, Spain (BarcelonaTech-UPC: http://www.upc.edu/); Senior Researcher at the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Spain (CIMNE: www.cimne.com ); Honorary Professor at National University of Salta, Argentina.

He is Doctor in Civil Engineering by te Technical University of Catalonia, Spain; and Doctor “Honoris-Causa by the University of Salta, Argentina; he has specialized on Advanced Structural Analysis at the Rome University, Italy; and Civil Engineering by the National University of Salta, Argentina.

 He teaches the following courses at the UPC: “Strength of Materials and Structures”; “Fracture Mechanics”; “Composite Materials”; and “Structural Dynamics”.

He was Visiting Professor at the Civil Engineering Laboratory of the National University of Tucumán Argentina, Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Salta Argentina, and Visiting Professor at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the State University of California at Berkeley USA.

His current research fields are: “Computational Mechanics”, “Constitutive Models”, “New Structural Materials”, “Composites Materials”, “Fatigue”, “Biomechanics”, and “Dynamic of Structures”. He supervised PhD and Master Theses, and published books and articles in these fields ( http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=dykQ-RkAAAAJ&hl=en ).

He participated in research projects in the framework of RTD programs of the European Commission, most of them as main researcher, in various projects funded by different Spanish Ministries, and in many consultancy contracts with Spanish and international companies or institutions.
