About me

MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering by the Technical Universityof Madrid (UPM) and PhD in Civil Engineering by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC).

I am currently full professor of shipbuilding technology at the Technical University of Madrid and head of the Naval & Maritime department of the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). CIMNE Naval & Maritime has been awarded in 2011 as the most relevant organization in the innovation for the naval sector, by the Spanish Association of Naval Architects.
From 2007 to 2013, I have been vice-dean for research at the Faculty for Nautical Studies of Barcelona Tech. The main lines of my research career are focused on the hydrodynamic analysis of naval structures, free surface, multi-physics, and fluid-structure interaction problems. I am author of more than 30 papers published in international journals, and have presented more than 40 communications in international conferences, being co-author of the Encyclopedia of Computational Mechanics (Ship Hydrodynamics, 2004). In my research tasks, I have been involved in dozens of R&D projects of national and international scope, in different fields of the naval and maritime engineering.

I have also been promoter and co-founder of the company Compass IS, a technology services company specialized in the engineering design, as well as in the development of software for calculation and information management in technology. Among other awards, I have received the prestigious Duran Farell award for Technological Research and the Best Professional Career award for young engineers of the Spanish Association of Naval Architects.
