Abstract
A procedure for computing the dynamic response of elastic linear structure is developed. The method is based on the state representation the equations of motion. The algorithm stability and accuracy compare favourably with those of step-by-step integration procedures. The proposed approach does not require any restriction on the type of dampingmatrix. The methodology isillustrated by two examples: seismic response of a dam and calculation of a building structure.
