Abstract

In this paper the joints between large panels of reinforced concrete are studied, when these joints are castellated and reinforced. It is dealt also the case when they are subjected to external forces acting along them. A theoretical model is shown in which the joint behaviour is simulated by the behaviour of a plane truss which is conditioned by the geometrical characteristic of the joint. A non-linear analysis is applied to each element of the plane truss, taking into account both the non-lineal mechanical and geometrical characteristics and the dovel action of the steel bars are included. The comparison between the theoretical method with the experimental results is excellent. This shows that the theoretical method can be applied to the design criteria of these joints.
