Un analisis del comportamiento de elementos de interpolación mixta en problemas de flujo compressible

== Abstract ==

The behavior of a mixed interpolation technique using the finite element method for compressible flow problems is analyzed in the present paper. The algorithm used- Taylor Galerkin-has been already studied by the author for linear interpolations, where an oscillatory behaviour in regions of low Mach number (like then stagnation point) has been observed. This phenomenon has been reported by other researchers for the one and two -step Lax-Wendroff algorithm in finite differences with non constant coefficients. then, the linearize (or constant coefficient) stabilityanalysisi can fail to predict instabilities. the sam ekind of problems has been observed in other applications,like incompressible flow, where it is already known that the velocityfield should be interpolated witha number of degrees of freedom greater than that used for the fieldof pressures if non oscillating results are expected. The result of the study is encouraging as will be evident in the numerical examples, but as expected there is an increment in the computational effort required. Finally the codeused and the artifficial viscosity techniques used are described.
