These tasks often involve complex physical processes, large-scale industrial data, and multiple design constraints, creating demand for efficient numerical methods and intelligent computational techniques.
Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and numerical computing have opened up new opportunities for manufacturing research. The convergence of AI and numerical computing is transforming manufacturing into a highly autonomous, data-driven ecosystem. AI excels at processing complex, unstructured data and enabling rapid predictions, while numerical computing provides a rigorous physics-based foundation, thereby driving significant advances in design and production. Together with digital engineering, industrial communication technologies, and intelligent automation, these approaches provide powerful tools for developing reliable, efficient, and intelligent manufacturing solutions.
This Special Issue focuses on recent advances in AI and numerical computing for advanced manufacturing, with particular emphasis on computational methods and engineering applications that address practical manufacturing challenges. Original contributions presenting theoretical developments, methodological innovations, and application-oriented studies are welcome.
