Nesta Tese são propostas duas metodologias aplicadas ao dimensionamento da ESS a fim de encontrar configurações de menor massa possível. Essas configurações devem ser capazes de suprir energia para o veículo elétrico em um dado perfil de alto valor de potência requerida. São investigadas ESSs com diferentes tipos de baterias e supercapacitores a fim de se obter um amplo range de escolhas de configurações em relação a peso e custo. Além de uma unidade ESS o veículo possui uma fonte de autonomia que pode ser uma célula a combustível ou uma unidade gerador/motor à combustão interna. A primeira metodologia de dimensionamento investiga configurações de ESS híbridas ou constituídas apenas por baterias ou supercapacitores para um veículo do tipo Sport Utility Vehicle. Esta metodologia utiliza os coeficientes de potência e energia específicas a partir das curvas de Ragone das fontes da ESS. Os resultados mostraram, que, dentre as configurações de ESSs investigadas, que a de menor massa é constituída apenas por supercapacitores de 165 F. A segunda metodologia de dimensionamento investiga configurações de ESSs híbridas para três tipos de veículos: um Sport Utility Vehicle, um micro-ônibus e ônibus de transporte urbano. Esse estudo visa mostrar a viabilidade do emprego da metodologia a veículos com diferentes aspectos físicos. Esta metodologia de dimensionamento destaca-se pela utilização de otimização não Linear na solução do problema cuja função objetivo é a menor massa da ESS. O aspecto inovador desta metodologia está na utilização de otimização na solução do problema referente ao dimensionamento da ESS aplicado ao envelope dos perfis de potência dos ciclos de condução. O envelope é resultante da sobreposição dos perfis de potência relativos aos ciclos de condução de operação dos veículos. O objetivo em utilizar o envelope dos perfis de potência está na abrangência de situações diversas de operação, em eventuais ciclos de condução, nos quais o veículo possa ser conduzido. A metodologia é aplicada a determinados períodos do envelope com alto valor de potência requerida. São propostas duas estratégias de gerenciamento de potência a fim de verificar a atuação entre a ESS, dimensionadas pela metodologia ótima, e a fonte de autonomia no fornecimento da potência requerida pelos veículos. Uma estratégia de gerenciamento é fundamentada em regras e a outra é fundamentada em otimização não Linear. A primeira estratégia foi aplicada para dez repetições de cada ciclo de condução, considerados no dimensionamento da ESS, e apresentou resultados satisfatórios quanto aos limites de operação dos supercapacitores e das baterias. A segunda estratégia de gerenciamento foi aplicada a determinados períodos dos ciclos de condução, nos quais, em relação à estratégia em regras, observou-se a atuação da fonte de autonomia. Os resultados mostraram que é possível obter maior economia de combustível, pois a fonte de autonomia permaneceu desativada com o emprego da estratégia de gerenciamento ótima. As duas estratégias de gerenciamento foram aplicadas aos três tipos de veículos Abstract: The energy-storage system (ESS) of electric vehicles with batteries and/or ultracapacitors can add high cost or high mass to the vehicle if the number of modules of these sources is not appropriate. Two sizing methodologies applied to the ESS are proposed in this Thesis. These methodologies aim ESSs configurations of lowest mass. The obtained configurations must be able to supply power when the electric vehicle is driven in a certain profile of high value of power required. ESSs with different types of batteries and ultracapacitors are studied to achieve a broad range of choices of configurations in relation to weight and cost. Besides an ESS unity the electric vehicle has an autonomy source that can be a fuel cell or a generator/internal combustion engine unity. The first sizing methodology investigates different ESSs configurations for a Sport Utility Vehicle type. This methodology is based on Ragone curves of the sources from which the specific power and specific energy coefficients are obtained. The ESS of lowest mass is found by using these coefficients and the power required that must be constant. Among the ESSs configurations analyzed the results showed that the ESS of lowest mass is formed only by ultracapacitors modules of 165 F. The second methodology investigates configurations of hybrid ESSs for three vehicle models: one Sport Utility Vehicle, one minibus and one urban transit bus. This study aims to show the viability of using the methodology in vehicles with different physical characteristics. This methodology is highlighted by the use of nonlinear optimization to solve the ESS sizing problem whose objective function is the lowest mass of ESS. The innovative aspect of this methodology is the use of optimization to solve the ESS sizing problem applied to the power envelope of the driving cycle profiles. The envelope is resulting of the superposition of the power profiles related to the driving cycles in which the vehicle is driven. The purpose of using the envelope of the power profiles is to comprise different situations, in any driving cycles, in which the vehicle can be driven. The methodology is applied to certain periods of the envelope with high value of power required. Two power management strategies are proposed to manage the ESSs, sized by the optimum methodology, and the autonomy sources to supply continuously the power required by the vehicle. One power management strategy is based on rules and the other one is also based on nonlinear optimization technique. The first one was applied to ten repetitions of each driving cycle and presented good results related to batteries and ultracapacitors operational limits. The second one was applied to certain periods of the driving cycles in which the autonomy source provides nominal power related to the strategy based on rules. The results of the optimum power management strategy showed that it is possible to obtain improved fuel economy, since the autonomy source remained turned off. Abstract

Em um momento em que questões ambientais e a segurança energética estão numa posição de destaque, Veículos Elétricos (VEs) estão no centro das atenções. Entretanto, ainda é difícil para eles substituir os tradicionais veículos de combustão interna e a razão principal para isso é o seu sistema de energia. Normalmente, devido a suas características, baterias são usadas como banco de energia para VEs. No entanto, baterias também apresentam algumas limitações para essa aplicação e o problema no sistema de energia é relacionado a essas limitações. Uma das soluções propostas é se colocar baterias e supercapacitores (SC) em paralelo, resultando em um Sistema Híbrido de Armazenamento de Energia (SHAE). Para fazer essa configuração possível e o fluxo de potência controlável em um SHAE, um conversor CC-CC bidirecional interfaceando a bateria e o SC é necessário. Levando isso em consideração, o estudo de topologias CC-CC bidirecionais é apresentado nessa Dissertação de Mestrado. Primeiro, o estudo de um conversor CC-CC bidirecional com indutor dividido, envolvendo sua análise teórica em regime permanente, análise dinâmica e uma metodologia de projeto com resultados de simulação, é apresentado, resultando na construção de um protótipo experimental com as seguintes especificações de projeto: Fonte de tensão 1 de 300 V, fonte de tensão 2 de 96 V, frequência de comutação de 20 kHz e potência nominal de 1000 W. Então, o estudo de uma segunda topologia, um conversor CC-CC Buck-Boost ZVS bidirecional, envolvendo sua análise em regime permanente e uma metodologia de projeto com resultados de simulação, também é apresentado. In an era where environmental issues and the energetic safety are in an outstanding position, Electric Vehicles (EVs) are in the spotlight. However, it is difficult for them to replace the ICE vehicles and the main reason for that it is their energy system. Normally, due to some of their characteristics, batteries are used as energy bank in Electric Vehicles. Nevertheless, batteries also present some limitations for this application and the energy system problem is related to these limitations. One of the proposed solutions is to place batteries and Supercapacitors (SC) in parallel, resulting in a Hybrid Energy Storage System (HESS). To make this configuration possible and the power flow controllable in the HESS, a bidirectional DC-DC converter interfacing the battery and the SC is necessary. Taking this into account, the study of bidirectional DC-DC topologies is presented in this Master’s Thesis. First, a study of a bidirectional DC-DC converter with tapped inductor, involving its theoretical steady state analysis, dynamic analysis and design methodology with simulation results, is presented, resulting in the design of an experimental prototype with the following design specifications: Voltage source 1 of 300 V, voltage source 2 of 96 V, switching frequency of 20 kHz and rated power of 1000 W. Then, the study of a second topology, a bidirectional ZVS Buck-Boost DC-DC converter, involving he steady state analysis and a design methodology with simulation results, is also presented.

Abstract

For lack of the appropriate global distribution of dc currents, the conventional suppression method to suppress dc bias based on capacitive dc blocking device (BD) redirects current to the ground as much as possible, which predisposes to the exceeding neutral current of other transformers in the regional power grid and leads to the contradiction between the power grid corporation and other public enterprises. Therefore, this paper presents a flexible suppression method for dc bias based on a novel dc-bias suppression device. First, a current balancing device (CBD) based on adjustable parallel resistances is designed. The mathematical model for global optimal switching of CBDs is established by a field-circuit coupling method with the equivalent resistance network of an ac system along with the location of substations and ground electrodes. The optimal switching scheme to minimize the global maximum dc current is obtained by gravitational search algorithm. Based on the aforementioned work, we propose a suppression strategy considering electro-corrosion of metal pipelines. The effectiveness and superiority of suppression methods are verified by comparative case studies of the Yichang power grid.

Abstract

This article deals with the description of topology configuration of wireless energy transfer system. Wireless energy transfer systems are used in several applications areas as is wireless charging accumulators in electric vehicles, charging batteries in mobiles, in lighting applications and other. This article is focused on wireless charging accumulators in electric vehicles, which the main quality indicators are high transmitted power, high efficiency and the transmission distance in range of the ground clearance of standard vehicles. There are described two topologies, first is series - series compensated system and second is series - parallel compensated system.

One of the main problems in electric vehicles is the volume of their electrical systems because their bulky components carry additional mass and high cost to the total system. On this topic, interleaving-phases and magnetic coupling techniques have been reported as effective methods for increasing the power density of the DC-DC converters that work between the storage unit and the motor inverter. In that sense, a volume assessment of these topologies would provide a better understanding of the problems to be faced when an electric power train is designed. In this paper, a volume modelling methodology is introduced with the purpose of comparing four different DC-DC converters: Single-Phase Boost, Two-Phase Interleaved with non-coupled inductors, Loosely Coupled Inductor (LCI), and Integrated Winding Coupled Inductor (IWCI). The analysis considers the volume of magnetic components, power devices (conventional and next-generation), cooling devices and capacitors. The methodology can be used as a part of an optimization procedure to minimize the volume of DC-DC converters. Conclusively, LCI and IWCI were found effective to miniaturize power converters with a power density of 8.4 W/cc and 9.66 W/cc, respectively. Moreover, a maximum efficiency of 98.04% and 97.61% was obtained for a 1kW LCI and IWCI prototypes, respectively. ispartof: IET POWER ELECTRONICS vol:10 issue:14 pages:2010-2020 status: published
