Abstract

Inefficient urban freight transport has a negative impact on both livability in cities and profit margins in the supply chain. Urban logistics schemes, consisting of governmental policies and company initiatives, attempt to address these problems. However, successful schemes are difficult to realize due to the divergent objectives of the agents involved in urban logistics. Traditional optimization techniques fall short when evaluating schemes, as they do not capture the required change in behavior of autonomous agents. To properly evaluate schemes, we develop an agent-based simulation framework that assesses the interaction between five types of autonomous agents. Compared to existing studies in this field, we contribute by (i) explicitly including company-driven initiatives, and (ii) adopting a supply chain-wide perspective. We illustrate the working of our framework by testing a number of schemes on a virtual network. Document type: Part of book or chapter of book

Abstract

International audience; This work provides a review of simulation techniques applied to urban logistics with a focus on practical applications. Several techniques and tools have been proposed to simulate different systems in urban logistics. In most cases, simulation choices depend on the objective of the simulation, the role of the decision maker and the type of problem. The paper offers a state of the art in which we analyse the existing simulation solutions for a given problem and/or a given stakeholder. As a result, it offers a practical reference for urban logistics researchers and practitioners who wish to use simulation in order to study the behaviour and performance of their systems. Abstract

The energy strategy 2050 of Switzerland is aiming at a substantial reduction of the consumption of not renewable energy and of energy sources, which are harmful for the climate, the environment and humans. The research project “Energy efficient and CO2-free Urban Logistics” aims at estimating and evaluating the potential of a more efficient use of energy, a reduction of CO2-emissions and the substitution of non-renewable energy resources regarding urban logistics in Switzerland. Possible developments in urban logistics and their impact on energy consumption and CO2-emission are shown in a scenario analysis. Furthermore a vision 2050 has been developed which fulfils the challenging targets for an “Energy efficient and CO2-free Urban Logistics” in Switzerland. The scenario analysis was completed in October 2016 and the vision has been carried out between November 2016 and June 2017. Based on the vision an action plan will be developed until end of 2017. Models supported by ICT tools are developed to raise collaboration and share of resources in urban logistics process, in a kind of "Logistics-as-uber" concept, which allows implementing operations such as “GoodsPooling” con-cept, equivalent to carpooling concept: daily use of home/work trips to pick and deliver goods on the way. This solution can also be integrated with the use of Taxis or even persons in a public transportation in a sharing solution of persons and goods transportation. caracterização do sistema de transporte de carga na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo, apresentada neste trabalho, apoia-se nas diversas formas de organização das atividades e serviços de transporte de carga, pondo em evidência os novos espaços e fluxos que foram gerados nas últimas duas décadas. A questão da circulação e transporte de carga na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo e suas relações com as transformações na organização produtiva são abordadas, entendidas como aspectos importantes da dinâmica sócioespacial da metrópole paulistana. Admite-se que as transformações na organização produtiva da metrópole implicaram o crescimento dos fluxos de bens e mercadorias que, ao afetar a organização da circulação geral e dos serviços de transporte de carga, podem ter repercutido na organização espacial urbana. Tais transformações, também decorrentes de inovações na organização dos próprios serviços de transporte de carga, vêm sendo caracterizadas como atividade logística e visam ganhos globais no processo de produção. Assim sendo, alguns dos novos elementos do sistema de transportes de carga podem estar relacionados a processos sócio-espaciais característicos da formação metropolitana contemporânea, que se expressam em diferentes formas de distribuição espacial das atividades econômicas. Partindo-se desse pressuposto são descritos alguns aspectos da organização da produção e das atividades de comércio e serviços que têm resultado em mudanças no sistema urbano de cargas, argumentando-se que tais mudanças fazem parte das dinâmicas de transformação do espaço metropolitano e confirmam a força de polarização e articulação concentrada na RMSP. The characterization of load transport system in Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, exposed in this work, holds on several ways of activities and duties organization for cargo transport, calling the attention to the new spaces and flows that were engendered on the last decades. The issue of cargo traffic and transport in São Paulo Metropolitan region and its relation with the transformation of the productive organization are broached, understood as important aspects of social spatial dynamic of São Paulo Metropolis. It is admitted that the transformation of productive organization of the metropolis implied in the increase of the goods and merchandises flows, that when affecting the organization of the general circulation and cargo transport duties, may have rebounded in urban spatial organization. Such transformations, also decurrent from innovations in load transport duties own organization, are becoming characterized as logistics activities and aim global profits in the production process. Thus, some of the new elements of the load transport system may be related to social spatial processes characteristic of the contemporary metropolitan formation, which express itself in different ways of spatial distribution of the economical activities. Starting from this presupposition some aspects of the production organization and of the trading and duties activities are described, which have turned out to changes in the urban load system, arguing that such changes constitute the dynamics transformations of the metropolitan spaces and confirm the polarization strength and the concentrated articulation in RMSP (São Paulo Metropolitan Region).

Não recebi financiamento The evolution of e-commerce has triggered a true revolution in the market. Due to that, the increase of deliveries changed the urban freight pattern flows and vehicles’ traffic in the cities. These changes have consequences in technological, economic, environmental and social aspects. It is important to highlight that the adoption of good practices and strategies in e-commerce last mile distribution can influence positively the society in general. According to the literature, there is a high potential to use new technologies in the last mile to increase the customer experience, reduce costs, increase security, and support city environmental when delivering e-commerce purchases. Therefore, the aim of this study is to diagnose the e-commerce last mile delivery evaluating new technology solutions proposed by the literature and considering the perceptions from customers and e-commerce carriers. The used method was survey questionnaires applied to consumers and carriers in order to get different perceptions between them in São Paulo city. This region was chosen due to its relevance in the Brazilian demand and complexity in last mile delivery related to productivity, security and urban mobility. Customers and carriers consider more relevant performance and convenience aspects in relation to e-commerce delivery. However, carriers have a greater concern than customers with the points of infrastructure and environment. Demographic and risk data from São Paulo were also analysed and the results support the strategy definition to have pick up points being used to delivery e-commerce purchases in the São Paulo city, predominantly in the most distant areas of the city center. A evolução do comércio eletrônico desencadeou uma verdadeira revolução no mercado. Por isso, o aumento das entregas mudou o padrão de fluxo de frete urbano e tráfego de veículos nas cidades. Essas mudanças têm consequências em aspectos tecnológicos, econômicos, ambientais e sociais. É importante destacar que a adoção de boas práticas e estratégias no comércio eletrônico na distribuição de ultima milha pode influenciar positivamente a sociedade em geral. De acordo com a literatura, existe um alto potencial para usar novas tecnologias na última milha para aumentar a experiência do cliente, reduzir custos, aumentar a segurança e suportar a cidade em aspectos ambientais ao entregar compras de comércio eletrônico. Portanto, o objetivo deste estudo foi diagnosticar a entrega de última milha do e-commerce avaliando novas soluções tecnológicas propostas pela literatura e considerando as percepções de clientes e operadoras de comércio eletrônico. O método utilizado foi a aplicação de questionários em consumidores e transportadoras para diferenciar percepções entre eles na cidade de São Paulo. Esta região foi escolhida devido à sua relevância na demanda e complexidade no contecto Brasil na entrega de última milha relacionada a produtividade, segurança e mobilidade urbana. Clientes e transportadoras consideram aspectos de desempenho e conveniência mais relevantes em relação a entrega no comércio eletrônico. No entanto, as transportadoras têm uma preocupação maior do que os clientes com o pontos de infraestrutura e meio ambiente. Dados demográficos e de risco de São Paulo também foram analisados ​​e os resultados apóiam a definição da estratégia de pontos de coleta usados ​​para entrega de compras de comércio eletrônico na cidade de São Paulo, predominantemente nas áreas mais distantes do centro da cidade.

Este trabajo investigativo propone una metodología para aplicar la estrategia de logística colaborativa a la cadena de suministro de productos agrícolas que abastece una localidad en Bogotá. Se realiza una revisión de literatura que permite identificar la estructura y factores determinantes de éxito en la estrategia colaborativa para la gestión de la cadena de suministro, paralelamente se realiza un caracterización in situ de la cadena de suministro objeto de estudio, que permite identificar las ineficiencias susceptibles de mejora, en función de la cual se diseña la metodología propuesta tal que armonice los principios de operación logística colaborativa de la cadena de suministro adaptada a las particularidades del objeto de estudio. Se obtiene una metodología que, aun cuando diseñada en función de la cadena de suministro objeto de este estudio, conserva una estructura genérica flexible que constituye una útil herramienta que apoya la puesta en práctica de las bondades teóricas de la administración de la cadena de suministro, soportando una ventaja competitiva para el sistema productivo. Abstract: This research project proposes a methodology for the collaborative logistics strategy for the supply chain of agricultural products that supplies a locality in Bogotá. A review of the literature is carried out to identify the structure and determining factors of success in the collaborative strategy for the management of the supply chain, at the same time an in situ characterization of the chain of services under study is carried out, which makes it possible to identify the inefficiencies susceptible to improvement, based on which the proposed methodology is designed, that the principles of the collaborative logistics operation of the supply chain are adapted to the particularities of the object of study. A methodology can be obtained that, even though it has been designed according to the supply chain of object of study, a flexible generic structure that is a useful tool that supports the implementation of the therapeutic benefits of the administration of the chain of supply, supporting a competitive advantage for the productive system

These factors have different levels of impact, between high-income and low-income neighborhoods and are more evident in megacities in developing countries, where it exists a clear division between classes. On one hand, governments do not attend low-income neighborhoods, where it exists a strong presence of unsafe areas, lack of planning, and infrastructure that hinders the deliveries of FMCG. On the other hand, traffic regulations in high-income neighborhoods make the delivery process more complex. This study aims to analyze the urban logistics by comparing lowincome and high-income neighborhoods in Sao Paulo city, by taking into account local businesses, buying consumer behavior, and the distribution process. To achieve this, a questionnaire in loco will be applied to the stakeholders involved (consumers, small retailers, and carriers). The data will be analyzed by employing descriptive statistics in an exploratory and descriptive way. The results from small retailers, consumers, and carriers reveal that in their point of view the delivery of products is different between BOP and TOP. Factors such as the infrastructure of the neighborhoods hinder the delivery of products from companies to small retailers in TOP regions, while in BOP regions small retailers' security and infrastructure are the major problems in the point of view of the actors. International audience; This paper presents a general framework to assess urban rail logistics suitability via a socio-economic cost benefit analysis and demand catchment assessment. First, we examine the main background issues related to data production in urban logistics and the needs of examining the economic viability of future projects. Second, we present methodology proposed that combines a classical CBA framework with a freight catchment analysis framework. Third, as an example of application, we propose to assess freight tramway deployment scenarios in Paris, France. The results show the potential of including demand catchment analysis in CBA to identify the suitable demand introduction strategy. However, it seems important to contextualize them, such methods being used to support decisions and not to substitute decision maker.

International audience; This communication presents four contrasted and near-caricatured scenarios of retail location and distribution, and compares them on the bases of both road occupancy rates and greenhouse gas emissions. Two main families of scenarios are defined: retailing land-use scenarios, based on the location of the different retailing activities of a city, and end-consumer delivery organisational scenarios, based on the definition of new services to deliver end-consumers, at home or to reception points. Those scenarios are simulated using an integrated approach combining inter-establishement goods transport flows, shopping trips and end-consumer deliveries. The simulation approach is able to show the relation between several aspects of retailing deployment (store location, catchment area's supply, urban retailing planning policies) and both upstream distribution of goods to retailers and downstream usage of private vehicles for shopping. Although scenarios are extreme and near-caricatured, they are able to identify the limits and forces of the different retailing strategies in urban zones.
