Abstract

Without evaluating the extraordinary and consistent impression that Nicholas of Cusa exerted on the works by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, it would be hardly possible to achieve a profound comprehension of one of the most prominent women writers of the Latin American Baroque period. The Cusan’s legacy provided Sor Juana with the symbol of the opposing pyramids of light and shadow, and with the metaphor of the circle and the center, already sifted by the Spanish mystics. Both symbols in her poem The Dream inscribe within a Renaissance change of episteme, in which a mathematical and optical version of the ideas was always produced through the elucidation of oneself, of the individual as part of a cyclic, spherical universe in which a central, all-seeing eye is described in various works by Nicholas of Cusa. The idea of divine contemplation with our bodily eyes closed, for the incorporeal is only accessible by getting rid of the corporeal; the mathematical and geometrical speculations about divinity and the conceptions of the world as a combination of signs; how the infinite and the finite encounter and the knowledge of the world is always a probability and a conjecture, all these are philosophical traces which enlighten The Dream, one of the most captivating intellectual poems in Spanish literature.

Cet ouvrage reprend dix contributions issues du colloque " Mobilités et temporalités " organisé aux Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis à Bruxelles en mars 2004. Abstract

This paper is presenting a driver behaviour investigation conducted within the framework of ISi-PADAS (Integrated Human Modelling and Simulation to support Human Error Risk Analysis of Partially Autonomous Driver Assistance Systems) European Project under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7), running from September 2008 to September 2011. This research has been developed at an initial phase of the project to support the conception of a new driver assistance system aimed at improving longitudinal driving by means of information, warning and intervention strategies. In this research, the contribution to the system conception is based on providing a knowledge base of driver behaviour through the conduction of simulator experiments, so that driver modelling can be supported by driving performance data corresponding to specific scenarios of interest. In particular, this paper is aimed at investigating driver behaviour under different circumstances, namely, different longitudinal driving scenarios and distraction caused by a visual and a cognitive secondary task while driving. This way, visual and cognitive distraction effects on longitudinal driving can be analysed, focusing on the driving situations of interest. This paper provides a thorough description of the rationale behind the investigation and describes the methodology and procedure used for the experiments conduction. Moreover, the main results achieved through this research and how these results are linked to the modelling phase inside the ISi-PADAS project are covered within this paper.

Abstract

This paper addresses how to describe critical episodes of interaction between human operators and autonomous, automated, and manual control systems. The first part of the paper poses three questions: (1) what levels of cognitive control are important to include in a descriptive framework for joint human-autonomy in process control; (2) how should one describe temporal developments in joint socio-technical systems; and (3) how does one analyse communication and control at the system joints. The paper proceeds by proposing a new framework for description and analysis, the Joint Control Framework (JCF), with a simple notation, the Score (JCF-S). It allows descriptions of the three previously mentioned aspects through three analytical activities: process mapping (PM), analysis of Levels of Autonomy in Cognitive Control (LACC), and temporal descriptions of human-machine interaction (T-HMI) through the Score notation. This facilitates analyses across cases and domains. The framework is discussed based on an analysis of two episodes; one work episode (from an air traffic control tower simulator); and one work procedure (from an unmanned traffic management system design concept). Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the philosophical, ontological, social bases of the Latin American context that served as support for the establishment of Lancasterian educational thought, based on scaffolding, cuts considered archetypal the present symbolic hermeneutical reflection that account for how It has been the process of pedagogical epistemological construction in Roman words "iuris tantum" that is to say, absolute presumption, in fact and in law (first in time and in law), what Latin history has registered and ours as well adopted it. The archetypal ethnohistorical hermeneutical method was used as a category of analysis: mentality, proposed by C. G. Jung for the interpretation of data, sources, texts, magazines, manuscripts, other official documents served as support to establish foundations and reflections. It is concluded in harmony with the author Cassirer, a reflection of philosophical anthropology that focuses on the concept of man as an symbolicum.
