Abstract

In this paper the design of a Yagi microstrip antenna will be done. Two well know design techniques will be analyzed: tables and mathematical equations. The design of microstrip antennas is compact, lightweight and relatively cheap. The material selection is overriding and the RO4003c substrate has been chosen due to its satisfactory operation at 5.8 GHz. Later tests are carried out in an anechoic chamber assembled to operate from DC to 10 GHz. Finally antenna parameters such as directivity, impedance, VSWR, return losses and radiation pattern are determined.

Abstract

This paper addresses the structural integration of a Ku-band SATCOM antenna in the fuselage of an aircraft. The phased array antenna consists of 25 antenna tiles that are integrated in an orthogrid fuselage panel. The specific electromagnetic aspects of the antenna integration will be discussed in this paper; this concerns the lightning protection of the antenna tiles and the electromagnetic interaction of the CFRP orthogrid and GFRP fuselage skin with the array antenna. The structural properties and thermal management of the antenna will be discussed in separate papers [1,2,3].

Abstract

The aim of this work is to describe the structural analysis of a multifunctional aircraft fuselage panel. The structure of the panel has an embedded antenna tiles. The panel consists of UniDirectional (UD) carbon fibre reinforced composite skin stiffened with ortho-grid ribs, and a transparent skin window made using UD glass fibre reinforced composite. The orthogrid structure is a structural reinforcement but also the antenna tiles support. The presented work proposes a numerical multiscale strategy. The laminate is simulated with solid elements, in order to capture the real kinematics of the material, but several laminas are condensed in a single finite element. The performance of each lamina is obtained using the Serial-Parallel (SP) mixing theory. The specific formulations developed have been very useful to identify and study the mechanical performance of these new structures and the localization of unknown and un-predicted hot-spots in the structure.

Abstract

This article develops the literary review of the architectures of energy harvesting systems, identifying parameters such as: frequency, type of antenna, architecture (elements), among others. The methodology has four stages: a) Search for documentation, 10 systems were obtained, which were designated with the letter "S" accompanied by the article number; b) Reading of scientific documents; c) Extraction of information and architecture of the systems, where the stages of each system are detailed (which vary from 2 to 4), the working frequencies (300 KHz to 3.43 GHz, 2.45 GHz being the most used in systems for collecting radio frequency energy). In addition to using in certain systems, multiplier and rectifier circuits in different configurations: half wave, full wave; to later be stored in batteries or directly applied to devices; d) Documentation of the information extracted. Finally, after completing the literary review, it was observed that, in most articles, the systems have 3 stages: antenna, coupling, and rectification that transforms the received energy (alternating current) into direct current, their operation varies in frequency intervals of 1.8 to 2.4 GHz depending on the configuration of each system. Likewise, the product obtained is a consultation APP, with a selection menu of the different architectures investigated, which is a very beneficial contribution for researchers who wish to work in this area.
