Abstract

The study focuses on packet aggregation mechanisms on the edge router of an optical network. The device works as an interface between the electronic and optical domains : it takes IP packets coming from client layers and converts them into optical packets to be sent into the optical network. An efficient aggregation mechanism supporting QoS (Quality of Service) requirements of IP flows is presented. A timer is implemented to limit the aggregation delay. Analytical models based on Markov chains are presented in order to study the packetisation efficiency (filling ratio) and the mean time of packetisation for each class. Numerical results show the effect of IP packet lengths distribution on aggregation delay and efficiency. Also, we show the importance of the timer in bounding the delay of transmitted packets without much altering the aggregation efficiency.

Abstract

International audience; This paper addresses the challenge of monitoring battery in fleets of electric vehicles (EV). The goal is to identify the different EV utilization modes, during real use, and to highlight the constraining conditions to manage battery health evolution. The other part of this study aims to build a battery capacity estimation model, permitting to estimate the remaining capacity of an EV during its real use. Finally, is explained a strategy to improve capacity estimates, based on the identified EV utilization modes.

International audience; The technological advances of autonomous and connected road vehicles have been shown an accelerating pace in the recent years. On the other hand, the regulations for autonomous, or driverless, road vehicles across Europe still deserve much attention and discussion. In this paper, we introduce the AUTOCITS project which has the main goals of conducting studies on the regulations for the adoption of autonomous cars in Europe, and also to carry out C-ITS Pilots in Madrid, Paris and Lisbon. AUTOCITS aims to contribute, directly or indirectly, to European related policy and reference documents on vehicle automation, regulations, connected and automated driving, and related road infrastructure issues due to the trend towards higher levels of connectivity and automation, where information provided via C-ITS can be truly catalyst for connected and autonomous driving. The project will specially focus on the communication links performance and connectivity between automated vehicles using C-ITS applications connectivity and automation ;, in particular, applications increase surrounding environment awareness in relation to infrastructure and ensure both road and driver safety requirements issues and using the regulation framework. AUTOCITS is an innovation project (CEF Program) that aims to facilitate the deployment of autonomous vehicles in urban nodes by developing intelligent transport services based on cooperative systems (C-ITS) that will enable vehicles, users and infrastructures to communicate, exchange, and share information.
