About me

Dr. María García-Martínez has been a researcher at INTA since January 2004, with extensive experience in R&D specializing in materials characterization, failure analysis, and advanced coatings for aerospace applications. She has served as the principal investigator (IP) for multiple high-impact projects, including the Plan Nacional project PID2021-125612OA-C22 (AERORECORD-3D), focused on graphene-reinforced ceramics obtained by additive manufacturing for aerospace components. She is also the IP of the European H2020-MSCA-RISE project CoMetaS, which investigates functionally graded metamaterials, and participated as a key researcher in the H2020-MSCA-ITN XS-META project on additive manufacturing of Ti6Al4V metamaterials. During CoMetaS, she completed a research stay at Georgia Tech under the supervision of Prof. Kalidindi, advancing the characterization of 3D-printed Ti6Al4V structures.

Her research has led to significant advancements in metamaterials and additive manufacturing, addressing challenges in aerospace, automotive, and biotechnology fields. She has secured over €500,000 in direct research funding as IP and contributed to projects with total budgets exceeding €6 million. Dr. García-Martínez has published 6 Q1 journal articles, authored a book chapter, and presented her findings at leading conferences, establishing herself as a leader in her field. She has also taken on responsibilities for laboratory management, technical coordination, and mentoring research teams, further demonstrating her leadership and organizational skills.
