Abstract

This paper presents the concept for integrated community noise management in the form of a decision support system for air traffic c ontrollers. It should assist controllers in guiding arriving and departing traffic near airport s in a safe and efficient matter, making use of the future concept of four-dimensional traje ctory-based operations and technology currently under development. The system should be able to create conflict-free or deconflicted, individually customized and optimized t rajectories for all arrivals and departures. While doing so, the system minimizes the negative environmental effects of the flight operations and manages their geographical al location, both for individual movements and cumulative exposure. Apart from the concept itself, this paper also present results on a simplified concept that does not rely on the possib ility to exchange four-dimensional trajectories between air and ground and as such could be an attractive interim solution.
