Through a resource-based approach, it investigates the elements facilitating SDG implementation in global energy companies, distinguishing between renewable energy and fossil fuel firms. Using empirical analysis with data from 522 companies in the sector, the methodologies of Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) are combined to understand the factors driving SDG implementation in this industry. The results reveal significant differences between renewable energy and fossil fuel companies regarding the effectiveness of facilitative elements, highlighting the complexity of implementing SDGs in the energy sector. This study contributes to understanding how energy companies can leverage their resources and capabilities to align with the 2030 Agenda, providing guidance for change agents in the energy transition.
+En el marc de l'Agenda 2030 de les Nacions Unides, aquest estudi analitza el paper del sector energètic en l'assoliment dels Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible (ODS). Mitjançant l’enfocament basat en recursos, s'investiguen els elements que faciliten la implementació dels ODS en empreses del sector energètic globals, distingint entre les d'energia renovable i de combustibles fòssils. A través d'una anàlisi empírica utilitzant dades de 522 empreses del sector es combinen les metodologies Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) i Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) per comprendre els elements que expliquen la implementació dels ODS en aquesta indústria. Els resultats evidencien diferències significatives entre empreses d'energia renovable i de combustibles fòssils respecte a l'eficàcia dels elements facilitadors, posant de manifest la complexitat d’implementar ODS en empreses del sector energètic. Aquest estudi contribueix a comprendre com les empreses energètiques poden aprofitar els seus recursos i capacitats per alinear-se amb l'Agenda 2030, oferint consells per als agents de canvi en la transició energètica.
