Se analiza la evolución de las principales redes sociales académicas: Mendeley, Academia.edu y ResearchGate. A través de un seguimiento anual del número de miembros y de documentos, se determina la salud actual de estas plataformas y en qué fase de crecimiento se encuentran. Se discute el grado de transparencia de estos espacios a la hora de facilitar información sobre sus servicios. Los resultados muestran que estos sitios están llegando a un punto de inflexión, donde se reducen sus índices de crecimiento y los ritmos de incorporación de documentos y usuarios.<br />
