 In this section, the material behaviour will be simulated with the hardening-softening law described in <span id='citeF-87'></span>[[#cite-87|[87]]] and <span id='citeF-135'></span>[[#cite-135|[135]]]. Both kinematic and isotropic hardening is taken into account. The hardening region will make use of the plasticity formulation described in chapter [[#3 Constitutive modelling of Ultra Low Cycle Fatigue|3]], while the softening region will be described with the plastic damage formulation presented in this chapter. The transition from one constitutive formulation to the other is done automatically at the material points that have reached softening. In table [[#table-18|18]] the material properties used for this simulation are presented. An X60 steel has been used as material for this simulation. The experimental behaviour presented below is obtained from an experimental campaign conducted on smooth specimens by FEUP under the framework of the ULCF European Project "Ultra low cycle fatigue of steel under cyclic high-strain loading conditions''. The properties displayed in table [[#table-18|18]] have been obtained as result of a calibration analysis with the above mentioned experimental campaign.
