Abstract

Sutureless repair is an effective procedure for acute left ventricular free wall rupture, however, it may be complicated with a left ventricular pseudoaneurysm during the late postoperative period. We present a case of a large ventricular pseudoaneurysm that occurred after the sutureless repair of an inferior myocardial infarction with oozing left ventricular free wall rupture. The patient underwent aneurysmectomy successfully. Serial magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicated that the necrotic left ventricular wall, which was covered by Teflon felt, had ruptured and developed a pseudoaneurysm. Therefore, after simple gluing for a left ventricular free wall rupture, patients should undergo careful follow-up evaluation for potential pseudoaneurysm. Moreover, early detection by MRI and prompt surgical repair of the complication are important in patients with left ventricular free wall rupture.

Abstract

Hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm after liver transplantation is an uncommon but potentially lethal complication. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to avoid life-threatening hemorrhage in these patients. We herein report the case of three patients who developed hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms after living donor liver transplantation. Two patients presented with massive duodenal bleeding secondary to erosion of the hepatic artery into the bile duct, and one patient presented with intra-abdominal bleeding. These patients were managed by catheter-based minimal invasive endovascular procedures including coil embolization and stent grafting. All the patients were treated successfully with uneventful recovery. This technique can be considered as an effective treatment option for hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms instead of a difficult surgical intervention.

Abstract

Vascular injuries associated with the tibial nailing have been reported in few case reports. We here report a unique case of anterior tibial artery (ATA) pseudoaneurysm caused by the second proximal coronal interlocking bolt. We found that the position of interlocking bolts on the nail brings them very close to the anatomical positions of arteries in leg. The reports of ATA injury by interlocking bolts highlight the need for reconsidering the nail design and screw hole positions.
