Abstract

The article traces in four sections an overview of the forms of violence present in Calderón’s theater. The first section is responsible for its most intense expression: war. The second prolongs with the analysis of its contagious nature which takes place both in the field of political and familiar conflicts, thus violence permeates all levels of society and increases even more when mixed both territories: the political and the individual. In the third section violence is considered in relation to the universe of honor, territory where is well defined its dominance. Finally, the last part discusses the language of violence in its complex theatrical dimension: as word and as scene.

Abstract

As in its time, printing, and nowadays Internet, TV has contributed to the birth of new educational scenarios and at the same time has generated a new structure in communication between human beings. If we take José Manuel Pérez Tornero’s statement: «… tension between knowledge engendered within school and the one produce outside this one, has been increasing in detriment of the first one», then we can’t denied that TV has challenged flexibility and creativity in our society, and particularly in our educational institutions, in order to acknowledge the new technological phenomenon. If we take account that every new technology creates crisis in the paradigms and subsequently re-constructs the mental representations of the human beings, is it not the time of seriously thinking that a new infant-subject exists, more in concurrence with our times, and re-define wich are the more precise and coherent educational practices in our new reality? School is a technology specifically shaped to hold what we think as formal scholar education. In itself is an artificial construction, that have a tendency to re-create simulated activities as if they were real, under a scholar learning form so that, when is incorporated, students may use it in a different context than school, more real and on a daily basis. Academic situations are measured by a more qualify subject named teacher, who posses not only the tools and strategies to improve knowledge construction, but the intentions to consciously used them with that purpose. On the contrary, who works in TV dedicated to children is functioning as an educator, although socially is incapable to perform this role, or even is not consciously intending to do this. The intersection field between education systems and TV, generates a gap that needs a reconsideration.

Abstract

The Internet as a socio-telematic media should generate and increase educational processes. Teaching and reading practice in the Internet is very necessary in order to learn to interact critically. The development of skills to explote its potencial for a deep and thoughtful comprehension with the transference to other reading situations, interaction and navigation will help for an autonomous and imaginative person.

Abstract

This work presents the results of a postgraduate thesis on communication, particularly the use of language. Messenger is one of the most popular ways for communicating by signs and symbols. This study was carried out on junior high school students in state education. This research explores the possible impact on junior high school students’ written work due to their use of Messenger. To address this question, the referential communication model with the qualitative approach was used in order to carry out a comparative study. Data were gathered from 16 junior high school students between 15 and 17 years of age who were paired into two groups for each part of the investigation. The research showed that it was possible to categorize the students into three groups: those who constantly use Internet, those who do not constantly use Internet and the rest who do not use it. The end results reveal that there is little relationship between the use of signs and symbols on Messenger and the quality of written work presented by junior high school students.

Abstract

Solving riddles involves association of ideas, analysis of metaphors, and discovery of analogies. Therefore, promoting this type of children’s entertainment is a way to develop creative thinking. However, there is a problem: traditional riddles are literary forms that correspond to a pre-digital era. How can we increase its acceptance among the digital natives? One way might be creating audiovisual riddles specially designed for YouTube. In this research we made five prototypes of audiovisual riddles with different creative characteristics and validated them among 8-12 years old students. The validation results helped us to identify the attitudes, reactions, interpretations and ways of thinking of children when they try to solve such riddles. We also identified the resources of language and creative formats that fit best in audio-visual riddles. The outcome of this research emphasizes the need to correctly formulate the audiovisual riddle statements and their «clues» for children; this way we assure an intellectual and emotional satisfaction when solving them. It also concludes that reading or listening to traditional riddles are cognitive and sensory experiences that are very different from interacting with the same riddle in a multimedia language. Finally, we discuss and analyze the mediating role of the teacher and the importance of collaborative learning in educational projects using digital technologies.

Abstract

We estimate the Anderson and van Wincoop model of trade by using the data on the bilateral export flows from 26 Turkish regions to 180 countries for the years 2002 through to 2010. Regional transportation and communication infrastructure capacity, the positioning of point infrastructure in a region, and geography are explicitly accounted for. Our results highlight that land infrastructure, air transport capacity, and private maritime infrastructure presence, together with the distance of regional economies to exit nodes such as ports and airports, are important determinants of export performance. Based on our preferred regression where multilateral resistance terms are accounted for, we estimate that increases in the current land infrastructure, air transport capacity, and number of private ports of 1 per cent increases exports approximately by 0.38 per cent, 0.14 per cent, and 0.045 per cent respectively.
