Abstract

XXI Century television is undergoing a process of transformation. New actors, new products and new ways of consuming television are on the lookout. Interactivity will make the traditional concept of television disappear. Television viewers can design their own grids independently of the operator’s schedule. The convergence of television and computer, Internet, telephone and video games bring us a new concept of television. Television faces two big transformations: digital transformation and that of the concept of «general public». The computer, the computer screen, has the calling of turning into a reception screen in which both computer and television functions fuse. Latest generation mobile telephony is integrating itself is this multimedia complex, in connection with television. Future television cannot dissociate from the Internet.

Abstract

This work makes a comparative analysis between the news webpages of the Spanish televisions Antena 3 and Tele 5. Between the main objectives of the work we can emphasize the analysis of: a) use of multimedia; b) the degree of dependency of the offered contents respect to television ones and other informative instances, specifically news agencies; c) the presence of interactive tools; and d) the global adjustment of the contents of television’ webpages to the characteristics of the new media (the Internet) in which they are inserted.

Abstract

Nowadays the local television has its own specific weight in audiovisual area. The little broadcasting stations are closer to the citizen than big national channel, but local television make a very similar programming but with less quality. 24- hours broadcasting is very difficult and expensive, so local channel need help from big national communication groups to completed their own playlist. The offer of local television focuses on news information, although included others genre like sports.

Abstract

Media researchers frequently need to record and store a huge amount of media content. Until recently, the Department of Communication at the Pompeu Fabra University  in Barcelona handled this problem in an old-fashioned analog and manual way. After migration to iptv, the department designed the MRecIPTV  software to record, store and access digital media content. This solution has transformed the way researchers work, simplifying data collection and analysis. Moreover, MRecIPTV has allowed the creation of a documentary heritage for future research.

Abstract

TVE (Spanish public TV) news services have undergone a great changeover to a digital production system. The current situation after five years of experience is described, along with the evolution of tools, procedures and professional profiles during this time. The new design of content management is described, understood as the control of media from the point of entry to the production system to recovery from the digital file for reuse. In the center of this cooperative and integrated approach to content management is the content manager, that structures the system and the articulation between the different components. At the beginning of 2009, 100% of the Archive material came from videotape recordings. In 2012, only 18%: the other 82% were restorations from digital Archive.
