Abstract

In 1999, the Education Ministry has financed the National Plan for the Promotion of Cinematographic & Audiovisual Language, promoted by Lino Miccichè, from the University of Rome III, in collaboration with institutions and national and regional associations. This Plan for three annualities has been blocked by italian government, due to his inestability and a lack of political will to renew the education system.

Abstract

This paper offers a reflection on film analysis nature, a regular activity in cinema teaching. In order to understand this perspective, we show the main risk factors: the empirical data fetishism, the context fetishism and the biographism return. Our proposal reivindicates the relevance of film form and the necessity for pointing out how films comunicate.

This paper tries to stress the relevance of film analysis as an essential activity for critical citizens´education, and as a necessary background to study and analyse other audiovisual media, related with cinema in expressive and narrative forms. We analyse some reasons to explain why film ananalysis is rejected, the nature of this concept. And, finally, we present an essays collection «Film analysis and watching guide».

Abstract

A new debate has arrived to the Education System. It deals with the need of an alternative teaching, an education that exceeds the academic traditions and studies the social relations, such as the relationship between media and society. Citizens must access an audiovisual teaching, because it is important to unders-tand how television, radio stations, newspapers, etc., work when they inform us, show us the culture or even build our dreams. People must know about the media’s economic and political interests, and also how the audience could make use of communication mass media.
