Abstract

The present work aims to analyze different interpretations of the myth of Orpheus made by Lope de Vega and Calderón de la Barca. Apart from trying to establish relations between various plays, the analysis deals in particular with the different ways in which the conventions of a dramatic genre (comedy vs. auto sacramental) influence not only on the interpretive proposals, but also on the handling of sources, the treatment of the characters, the dramatic conflict, etc.
