Abstract

Magnetic resonance (MR) enterography has emerged as a new imaging modality in evaluating patients with Crohns disease. However, whether interpretations of MR enterography findings are consistent among radiologists has not yet been fully investigated. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the intraobserver and interobserver agreement for identifying extraluminal manifestations of Crohns disease with MR enterography. MR enterography was performed with a 3-tesla system. We retrospectively enrolled patients with Crohns disease that had MR enterography between November 2011 and March 2013. Three radiologists reviewed the images independently. Extraluminal findings of these patients were recorded and described. Intraobserver and interobserver agreement were calculated using the kappa statistic. A total of 22 sessions of MR enterography were performed on 15 patients (12 men and 3 women) with Crohns disease. The mean age was 38.7 ± 11.4 years. We identified extraluminal manifestations such as engorged vasa recta, enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes, fibrofatty proliferation, fistulas, and abscesses. In addition, avascular necrosis of the femoral head as a complication of long-term steroid treatment was also depicted. The intraobserver agreement was almost perfect (κ = 0.83, p < 0.001), and the interobserver agreement was substantial (κ = 0.65, p < 0.001). MR enterography is a clinically useful tool for evaluating extraluminal manifestations of Crohns disease with good intraobserver and interobserver agreement.

Abstract

We describe the Open Diffusion Data Derivatives (O3D) repository: an integrated collection of preserved brain data derivatives and processing pipelines, published together using a single digital-object-identifier. The data derivatives were generated using modern diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging data (dMRI) with diverse properties of resolution and signal-to-noise ratio. In addition to the data, we publish all processing pipelines (also referred to as open cloud services). The pipelines utilize modern methods for neuroimaging data processing (diffusion-signal modelling, fiber tracking, tractography evaluation, white matter segmentation, and structural connectome construction). The O3D open services can allow cognitive and clinical neuroscientists to run the connectome mapping algorithms on new, user-uploaded, data. Open source code implementing all O3D services is also provided to allow computational and computer scientists to reuse and extend the processing methods. Publishing both data-derivatives and integrated processing pipeline promotes practices for scientific reproducibility and data upcycling by providing open access to the research assets for utilization by multiple scientific communities. Abstract

We report a case of pseudolymphoma of the liver in a 49-year-old woman without an underlying disease except for liver hemangioma. A 20-mm nodule was incidentally found in segment 2 of the liver by abdominal ultrasonography during a regular follow-up of the hepatic hemangioma. After a series of radiological examinations, a left lateral sectionectomy was performed because malignant hepatic tumor could not be excluded. The patient was discharged uneventfully 7 days after the operation. The pathology examination revealed a pseudolymphoma. No recurrence of the tumor was found 5½ years after the operation. To the best of our knowledge, only 46 cases of pseudolymphoma of the liver have been reported to date. A review of the literature showed that pseudolymphomas occur predominantly in females (89.4%), usually occur as a single tumor (80.4%), are no more than 20 mm in size (90.6%), and are frequently associated with either autoimmune disease or chronic liver disease. Because an accurate diagnosis is difficult to establish, vigilant follow-up is indicated, and surgical intervention is the choice of treatment once the suspiciousness of malignancy has been raised.
