Abstract

Este artículo examina la relación entre la lectura crítica y el objeto crítico en la obra de la poeta y ensayista canadiense Anne Carson, principalmente los textos que surgen de su largo acercamiento a los escritos de la filósofa y mística cristiana Simone Weil. Mi lectura de Carson se centra en los deseos conflictuales de la relación crítica que se encuentran confesados y no confesados en su obra, y en las formas de intimidad que sus respuestas logran con la obra de Weil. Agudizadas por su encuentro con el pensamiento y la fe de Weil, las preguntas de Carson para la crítica —sobre sus propios objetos y la resistencia de ellos a la interpretación, sobre la distinción entre crítica y literatura, y sobre la vanidad de la estética de la crítica misma— encuentran su articulación en varios géneros de la escritura: estudiando la complicidad de cada uno de estos con Weil, y la capacidad de cada uno a radicalizar sus cuestiones, llego a unas conclusions propias para la crítica literaria.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to review Marchena’s ideas about Calderón’s theater, which fall within the debate about the author of El Alcalde de Zalamea that raged over the first third of the Nineteenth Century. The paper draws on the judgments and the anthology of Calderonian texts that Marchena cites and edits according to his original civil conception of Spanish literary history in his Lecciones de Filosofía Moral y Elocuencia (1820).

Abstract

In the year 1903 Manuel de Montoliu published the first Catalan version, in prose and poetry, of La Vida Nova, which meant an important stage within the history of pre-Raphaelitism and modernism in Catalonia. In this article the first Dantesque influences in the poetic production of the translator will be detected, the stage of preparation and of presentation of the text will be analysed and, finally, the article will study the progression that the exegesis of Dante’s work determines in Montoliu’s thought. This global vision will leave a redimensionated image of the critic which concerns the originality of his positions, and it will be demonstrated that the interpretations on the figure of Beatrice will lead him into focusing his interest in the most doctrinal aspects of the Divine comedy.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to study the poetry of female Catalan writers during the interwar period using two methods: on the one hand, comparative literature, relating them to English writers of the same period, and, on the other hand, feminist criticism, using some of its paradigms. The second objective is to vindicate the quality of some of these authors, such as Roser Matheu, M. Teresa Vernet, Simona Gay, Maria Perpinyà and Cèlia Viñas, and to highlight their importance in contemporary Catalan literary history.Key words: women’s poetry, catalan poetry, english poetry, interwar period, literary criticism.

Abstract

For decades, the figure and works of the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig (Vienna, 1881-Pe­trópolis, Brazil, 1942) enjoyed the benefit of unparalleled popularity in Catalonia. Beyond praise  and criticism, Zweig, who is arguably one of the most famous writers of the twentieth century, interested and involved writers, artists, critics, translators, politicians, and all sorts of cultural agents in a critique reception of his work in Catalonia which is still to be studied exhaustively and to be interpreted properly. This article proposes a first interpretation of Zweig’s critical reception in Barcelona, which, however anecdotal, episodic and tangential, necessarily reflects the same contradictions and fluctuations of the author’s global reception. From the analysis of his first translations, the relationship with Salvador Dalí, the meeting with Eugeni d’Ors or Joan Estelrich, the repercussions in the press of his death or the debates that his work provoked between idealists and skeptics, some episodes are analyzed that point out major lines of interpretation of Zweig’s work and thought.

Abstract

Genette introduced and defined the concept of paratext in 1987, and applied studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of this methodological approach. However, reviewing the scientific literature shows a lack of studies of a paratext that is essential to the promotion of reading on social networks: public virtual epitext. The first aim of this paper is to review and analyze the scientific literature about virtual epitext. Next, we propose lines of research to advance the promotion of books and reading on social networks. Finally, we show the need to broaden the virtual epitext concept in order to analyze internet-related changes in the dissemination of books and reading.
