Abstract

El Grupo de Análisis sobre Estrategia y Prospectiva de la Información  (ThinkEPI ) es un proyecto creado en mayo de 2005 con el objetivo de contribuir a dinamizar la comunidad de bibliotecarios, documentalistas, comunicadores y expertos en información en general, así como a intentar que estos profesionales que “añaden valor a la información” sean más visibles ante la sociedad.

Abstract

The evolution of the mailing list IweTel is presented, including a description of its evolution and how it has been used by its subscribers, by analysing the content of the messages sent from 2001 to 2007. The study shows that the list is used mainly for professional communication and information exchange and, overall, by the academic community. However, a lack of active participation by its members is also revealed. On the other hand, list management has improved in recent years, and so has the quality of the debates.

Abstract

Last February, following a change in Facebook’s use policies, a discussion about social networks began in IweTel, expanding on multiple facets of previous messages to the list. Topics included: the policies of use and their acceptance by each individual; the privacy of information and its management; the differences between cloud computing and social networks; and the need to train users in the correct use of social networks as part of an information professional’s profile.
