Abstract

Abstract: This paper analyses the multiculturalism in children’s and young people’s literature written in Catalan between 2002 and 2006, a period when there was a marked increase in immigration and the debate about intercultural education became more intense. The study focuses on a corpus of 95 books selected according to different factors (namely, literary awards, positive reviews and recommendation lists). This enables a broad approach to be taken on the issue of cultural diversity. It must be pointed out, however, that the Catalan children’s and young people’s literature analysed does not reflect this period of cultural diversity. Including both the diversity already and that resulting of the new conditions created by changes taking place at the beginning of the century. Finally, a list of multicultural books and a list of books that can be used as teaching tools for intercultural education is suggested. Abstract

The working hypothesis of this article is that many of the root causes of AIDS are intrinsically tied to the processes of globalisation. To develop efficient responses to AIDS requires more than conveying a clear message about sexual behaviour. It will often require broader strategies to empower the audiences to handle difficult conditions of everyday life. By drawing on post-colonial theory on the interrelation between media and migration, modernity and globalisation, this text seeks to re-assess the challenge of AIDS communication and prevention, suggesting a fundamental rethinking of current practice where the impacts of economic and cultural globalisation are taken into consideration.

Abstract

En matière de transport maritime, deux mondes se côtoient depuis l'apparition du conteneur à la fin des années 1950 : d'un côté celui lié à la circulation des boîtes, de l'autre celui des marchandises qui ne peuvent être empotées dans ces caisses de métal. Le premier correspond à un marché construit par l'offre de lignes régulières et la notion de service maritime, le second s'organise d'abord en fonction de la demande de marchandises selon une navigation de vagabondage. Si les logiques qui les animent sont bien différentes, les deux sont confrontés aux enjeux de la globalisation, en particulier ceux liés à la durabilité d'un modèle économique d'inspiration libérale.
