Abstract

Electronic reference systems have evolved. The author presents the different digital reference services that are offered at present. The article distinguishes between digital reference and other non-library information services offered online. The text presents a classification of services in which one person sends a question using information technology and gets a response by similar means. The paper analyzes the characteristics of public digital reference services offered by library organizations for all types of users.
