Abstract

The changes that Google have introduced in the search results for “guessing” user’s preferences, and trying to give results closer to their intended search targets (and also for the sake of advertising), can hinder some uses of the search engine. For example, unlike when it was less “intelligent”, now Google gives biased results toward local information deemed to be nearer to the user, or corrects the spelling of common terms when looking for the unusual ones.

Die derzeitigen Entwicklungen und Herausforderungen in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft im Rahmen von Digitalisierung und Digitaler Transformation stellen enorme Anforderungen an die Informatik und Wirtschaftsinformatik. Nur durch die aktiv getriebene Weiterentwicklung und den gezielten Einsatz von IT-Technologien, -verfahren und -methoden können wir es schaffen, uns den Herausforderungen unserer Zeit erfolgreich zu stellen und nachhaltige, zielkonforme, wirtschaftliche Lösungen zu entwickeln. Beispieldomänen hierfür sind das agile Management (lokal und global) bei sich ändernden politischen und wirtschaftlichen Randbedingungen (z.B. Brexit), das flexible Steuern und Überwachen großer Verkehrs- und -Versorgungsnetze, das Schaffen und Betreiben agiler effizienter Unternehmensverbünde und die Energiewende. Wesentliche Aspekte hierfür sind „agilitätsbegünstigende“ und transparente Modellierung sowie die Optimierung von Prozessen und die Planung und Steuerung von effizienten und nachhaltigen Ressourcennutzungen. Der Workshop adressiert Aspekte der transparenten Modellierung, der Optimierung und der Simulation hochkomplexer Systeme im o.g. Sinne. Im Vergleich zu seinen Vorgängerworkshops fällt der MOC 2019, bezogen auf den vorgesehenen zeitlichen Umfang, gering aus. Neben der Beitragspräsentation liegen die Schwerpunkte auf kooperativem Brainstorming und Diskussion der thematisierten Aspekte. Hierfür sind impulsgebende Slots zu den Themengebieten „Shapley-Wert“ sowie „Deklarativität und KI“ vorgesehen. Generell soll der Workshop Fachleuten, Anwendern und Interessierten die Möglichkeit zum Austausch und zur nutzbringenden Diskussion von Ideen, Ansätzen, Verfahren und Problemlösungen geben, wobei hierbei idealer Weise Grundlagen für zukünftige, im o.g. Sinne zielführende, Forschungsarbeiten entstehen sollen.

Abstract

Purpose Precision cancer medicine is dependent on accurate prediction of disease and treatment outcome, requiring integration of clinical, imaging and interventional knowledge. User controlled pipelines are capable of feature integration with varied levels of human interaction. In this work we present two pipelines designed to combine clinical, radiomic (quantified imaging), and RTx-omic (quantified radiation therapy (RT) plan) information for prediction of locoregional failure (LRF) in head and neck cancer (HN and 2) a pipeline with minimal user input that utilizes deep learning convolutional neural networks to extract and combine CT imaging, RT dose and clinical features for model development. Results Clinical features with logistic regression in our highly user-driven pipeline had the highest precision recall area under the curve (PR-AUC) of 0.66 (0.33–0.93), where a PR-AUC = 0.11 is considered random. CONCLUSIONS: Our work demonstrates the potential to aggregate features from multiple specialties for conditional-outcome predictions using pipelines with varied levels of human interaction. Most importantly, our results provide insights into the importance of data curation and quality, as well as user, data and methodology bias awareness as it pertains to result interpretation in user controlled pipelines.

Abstract

This paper studies the effects of differences in local administrative burdens in Italy in the years 2005–2007 preceding a major reform that sped up firm registration procedures. Combining regulatory data from a survey on Italian provinces before the reform (costs and time to start a business) with industry-level entry rates of limited liability firms, it explores the effects of regulatory barriers on the average of the annual entry rates across industries with different natural propensities to enter the market. The estimates of the cross-sectional analysis show that lengthier and, to some extent, more costly procedures reduced entry in sectors with naturally high entry. A one-day delay in registration procedures reduces the entry rate in highly dynamic sectors by more than 1 percent. These results hold when I include measures of local financial development and of efficiency of bankruptcy procedures are included. Document type: Book
