International audience; Coastal or offshore structures such as pipelines installed on the seabed are submitted to the hydrodynamic action of the waves either by a direct application of cyclic wave loads or through the cyclic movement of risers or flow lines transmitted by floating structures. In fine sandy or silty soils the cyclic loads can induce a liquefaction of the surrounding bed which can play an important part in the processes of erosion, trenching or self-burial of the pipes. A large 1 g physical model was built to study the fluid-soil-structure interaction with special emphasis on the conditions of occurrence of liquefaction around a pipe instrumented with pore pressure sensors. The experiments indicate a build up in pore pressure at the pipe-soil interface and a lateral visualisation showed a liquefaction of a soil band in the vicinity of the pipe. The penetration of the structure can be related to the phenomenon of liquefaction. Document type: Book

International audience; Numerous slurry transportation pipeline systems have been built in the past 10 years. At the same time, T. Chakkour & F. Benkhaldoun study in [1] the hydraulic transport of particles in tubes. We investigated in [2] the hydraulic transport of slurry system in horizontal tubes (The Khouribga mines). This mineral pipeline has often been referred to as one of the most challenging projects in terms of operating complexity and system configuration in Morocco. This physical model features a mass and momentum balance for three-fluid model in 1D. It allows to predict the pressure drop and flow patterns. The originality of this work is to present in simplified form a homogeneous single-phase model. The most important advantage of this model is the considerably smaller number of variables to be solved compared to the multiphase model. In this presentation, we give the asymptotic behavior of friction-disharge term f Q 2 that is involved in the last term of motions equation, taking into account the Reynolds number. This allows to understand how the elevation varies, when the flow is very laminar.

Abstract

International audience; This paper presents a coordination mechanism for smart homes in community microgrids (smart neighborhoods) whether photovoltaics (PV), home battery storage and electric vehicles (EV) are available. The objective of the proposed method is to reduce the electricity cost of the users, as well as the aggregated peak load of the area by establishing an energy sharing ability among neighbors. A decentralized control algorithm deployed by the smart homes is used for battery control and appliance scheduling. It is assumed that the users are the owners of these resources and that they are selfish decision-makers who focus on increasing own benefit. For the neighborhood, a dynamic price model is used, where the price is associated to the aggregated consumption of the neighborhood area. Numerical results show that proposed coordination mechanism with energy sharing provides benefits for both the users and the utility.

In this context, the widespread engineering methods are showing their limit since they mainly integrate technological centered point of view. International audience; To cope with the new transportation challenges and to ensure the safety and durability of electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, high performance and reliable battery health management systems are required. The Battery State of Health (SOH) provides critical information about its performances, its lifetime and allows a better energy management in hybrid systems. Several research studies have provided different methods that estimate the battery SOH. Yet, not all these methods meet the requirement of automotive real-time applications. The real time estimation of battery SOH is important regarding battery fault diagnosis. Moreover, being able to estimate the SOH in real time ensure an accurate State of Charge and State of Power estimation for the battery, which are critical states in hybrid applications. This study provides a review of the main battery SOH estimation methods, enlightening their main advantages and pointing out their limitations in terms of real time automotive compatibility and especially hybrid electric applications. Experimental validation of an online and on-board suited SOH estimation method using model-based adaptive filtering is conducted to demonstrate its real-time feasibility and accuracy.
