Teaching: As an instructor in the field of computational mechanics, being a good teacher is of fundamental importance. My teaching philosophy can be summarized in the following; a) Teach quality over quantity,b) Bring an added dimension to lectures, c) Emphasis on practical engineering problems, d) Good teaching for all.
Research: My research is motivated by the challenge of modeling, rigorously analyzing and implementing methods for the numerical simulation of diverse and highly complex physical phenomenon. During my doctoral studies I have focused on advanced finite element techniques, such as : Meshless methods, for the simulation of metal forming operations (including visco-plasticity, thermal softening, fracture and crack propagation, etc). Presently, my primary focus has been in the developing of isogeometric approaches and model order reduction methods in both computational solid mechanics and computational fluid dynamics. In addition, I have also been working in the area of modeling nano-composites.

Andres Rodriguez was born in Cordoba,
Argentina, 1961. He received the Civil Engineering
degree from the National University of Cordoba,
Cordoba, Argentina, 1985 and the Ph.D. degree in
marine sciences from the Politechnical University of
Catalonia (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, 1997.
He began his carrier as a Research Assistant at
Facultad de Cs. Exactas F´ısicas y Naturales (FCEFyN),
Cordoba, Argentina, 1981. Later he was an
Adjunct Professor since 1990. Since 1997, he has
been a Full Professor. He was a Researcher at The
National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) from 2001
to the present reaching the Independent category in 2007. During 1991–1997,
he was an Associate Professor of Maritime Hydraulics at the Laboratory of
Maritime Engineering (LIM) Engineering, UPC, Barcelona, Spain. He is an
Associate Researcher of NationalWater Institute since 1997. He is currently the
Director of the Hydraulics Laboratory, FCFyN since 1997 . He was the President
of Directory of Superior Institute of Water Resources ISRH of UNC since
its creation in 2002 up to 2007, and the Director of the Sistema Nacional de
RadaresMeteorolgicos (SINARAME) project of meteorological radar coverage
of Argentina since its creation in 2009 up to 2015. His research interests include
fluvial hydraulics, experimental and numerical hydrodynamics, maritime and
environmental engineering, and radar hidro-meteorology. He is the author and
coauthor of more than 60 papers, 9 book chapters, 4 books, and more than 200
conference presentations and one patent. He has directed or codirected 18 Master and 12 Doctoral Thesis. Dr. Rodriguez received the national prize of Arg. National Academy of Engineering in 2000. At present he is Director of Hydraulics Department of UNC.

Technical Public Works Engineer specializing in Hydrology from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 2007. Civil Engineer specializing in Hydraulics and Energy from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) in 2014.

I began my professional activity in the field of Hydraulic Engineering in 2006 in the company ALATEC. In 2007, I incorporated to the Water and Environment Department of Clothos S.L. until 2009. I worked on the Wastewater and Water Supply Master Plans of Canal de Isabel II.

In 2009, I started as a research engineer in the Hydraulics Laboratory of the School of Civil Engineering of the UPM. In 2014, I joined the Research in Dam Safety (SERPA). Since then, I have been working in different activities and participating in R&D projects within the research group. I worked on numerical thermal models of concrete dam construction in the ACOMBO project and I started my doctoral thesis on this topic

From 16 May 2021 to 15 Sept 2022 I worked in CIMNE-Madrid, meanly in the hydraulics models. I am also finished my doctoral thesis entitled "Thermal evolutionary studies of roller-compacted concrete dams in construction phase" on 22nd November 2021.

David J. Vicente received the Bachelor's Degree, and subsequently the Master's Degree, in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid in 2009 and 2011, respectively, both specialising in Hydraulics. In 2017 he presented his thesis 'Design of pressure management operations in water distribution districts and analysis of their impact' with 'Excellent Cum Laude' qualification.

He has worked on multiple research projects, being his fields of expertise the application of numerical modelling and Machine Learning-based models to different areas of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering: “Water Distribution Systems: modelling, pressure management and leakage management”, “Dam Engineering: geometric design, thermo-mechanical modelling”, “Prediction of water quality parameters and optimization of advanced treatments” and “Air quality forecasting”.

He is currently working for CIMNE (since October 2015), in the department of “Machine Learning in Civil Engineering” where he is involved in research, technical development (programming) and proposal development at national and European level. Fernando Salazar received the Degree on Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid in 2002, specializing in Hydraulics. He has worked in several dam and hydraulic projects, as well as in the development of emergency plans and hazard-potential classification of dams (being Mequinenza and Riba-Roja, in the Ebro river, among them). He is working for CIMNE since 2009, where he is the current Project Development Director.

He obtained his PhD at the UPC in 2017, qualified as Excellent Cum Laude. It focused on the application of machine learning techniques to dam monitoring data analysis. In this field, he was winner of an International Challenge organized by Verbund, the greatest hydropower company in Austria.

He has been involved in several research projects in the fields of hydraulics, dam engineering and dam safety. He is author or co-author of 15 papers in scientific journals, and around 50 contributions in conference proceedings.

My professional career is being developed mainly in the field of calculation of structures using numerical methods.

Since November 2011 I work in the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) in Madrid developing research projects in Civil Engineering. The projects focus on the possibilities of using particle methods for the calculation of the behaviour of granular materials, specifically, the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM) and the Discrete Element Method (DEM).

During my years at the CIMNE I studied the Master of Numerical Methods in Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and my PhD thesis entitled "Numerical analysis of railway ballast behaviour using the Discrete Element Method", presented on October 6, 2017, also at the UPC. The thesis, awarded the XVI Talgo Prize for Technological Innovation, was focused on the application of the Discrete Elements Method to the calculation of the behaviour of railway ballast.

Jose Pablo Suarez Rivero. Computer Engineer (1997). Doctor of University (2001) and Full Professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Received in 1998 postgraduate studies at the Institut für Systemsoftware at the Johannes Kepler University, Austria, in the Instituto de Ciencias Exactas de la Universidad de Hidalgo, Méjico and in the CAD/CAM Center of the Universidad de Holguín, Cuba. In 1998, visiting professor at the Autonomous University of Hidalgo State, Mexico on the degree and Masters in Computer Science, also directing theses and master's degree in Computer Science. He was Tinsley Oden visiting Fellowship in 2000 from the University of Texas, Austin integrated with the software development group Mesh Generation at the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES). Since 1999 is senior professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria works associatted at the Department of Cartography and Graphic Expression in Engineering. Since 2001 is a member of the Institute of Information and Systems (IUMA.-ULPGC) and since 2012 director of the MAGiC Division (Mathematics, Graphics and Computing).

He has co-authored over 35 ISI/JCR/Scopues papers and participated in about 70 national and international conferences. Responsible Research in a dozen national and regional grants in R&D+i. He is organizer of some international events in the ULPGC, for example between 2003 to 2009 of Las Palmas Seminar on Geometry & Graphics in Engineering, and between 2010 and 2012, the IMACS / ISGG Meeting on Applied Scientific Computing and Tools Grid Generation, Approximation and Visualization.

He has participated in a dozen competitive R + D + i, highlighting those funded by the "Plan Nacional de I+ D+i 2008-2011" ( MTM2008-05866-C03-02, MTM2005-08441-C02-02), "Programa Estatal de I+D+i orientada a Retos de la Sociedad" (RTC 2014-2258-8) European Commission (Project number FP7-2011 -ICT- FI 285248) and over 10 Contracts and Agreements through Business and Administration.

He is also coordinator of the Development Cooperation group Social Innovation and Accessible Technology and the Group of Educational Innovation Graphic Engineering in the ULPGC, which promotes the development of assisted tools for Educational Innovation and Cooperation for Development. In 2013 he was invited as speaker in the Campus Party London.

In the area of Industrial Design he has supervised about 110 Academic Projects in the Grade of Industrial Design and Product Development.

MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering by the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and PhD in Civil Engineering by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC).

Currently, I am full professor of shipbuilding technology at the Higher Technical School of Naval Architects and Offshore Engineers (ETSIN) of the Technical University of Madrid and the Deputy Director of Institutional Relations.

I conduct my research in collaboration with the Model Basin Research Group at ETSIN (CEHINAV) and the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). My research career has focused on developing computational models for fluid-structure interaction analysis and their application to the design and verification of ships, platforms, and marine structures.

I am the author of more than 35 articles published in first-tier international journals, have presented over 80 papers at international conferences, and have participated in more than 25 European or international research projects.

Additionally, I have been the promoter and co-founder of Compass IS, a company specializing in engineering design, and Scipedia, the developer of the platforms Scipedia.com and BIM TeamUp.

I am right between Engineering and Software development.
Working at CIMNE since 2004, I have been involved and led research projects in a wide range of fields: harbours & waves, oil & gas drilling, aerodynamics, landslides, agriculture,... I developed a software for free surface flows (www.cimne.com/pfem/) and after that, one for particles (http://www.cimne.com/dem/), but I also found myself developing parts of standard CFD and structural (CSM) codes.
In these years I have become an experienced programmer mainly in Object Oriented languages (C++, Python) and also Matlab. Subversion or Git (preferably the second) are a must for the best team work.
As an Engineer, the goal of each project is my main concern, and software is just a handy tool.
The lectures on Theory of Finite Elements and structures given at the University since 2010 were a good complement to my practical work at CIMNE.

The AVK, as the German professional association for fibre reinforced plastics/composites, represents the interests of producers and processors of reinforced plastics/composites on a national and a European level. The AVK was founded in 1924 and currently has over 220 member companies (in Germany and abroad) and is therefore one of the largest associations in the European composites sector.

It represents members along the entire value-added chain in the area of reinforced plastics. Its members include manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials as well as processing companies, machine-tool manufacturers, engineering firms, testing authorities and scientific

institutions. The association represents both small and medium-sized companies as well as major multinational concerns.

The AVK is integrated into a strong network of German and European partners. For example, it is one of four sponsoring associations of the GKV - the umbrella organisation of the German plastics converters industry and represented in both the executive and board.

1994-2001: Studies of Civil Engineering (Bachelor and Master Degree) at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC).

2001-2004: Project engineer at Pedelta S.L. Role as main project engineer in the design of bridges, footbridges and other special structures.

2004-2008: Doctoral studies in the Structural Analysis program of the Strength of Materials and Structural Engineering Department, of the UPC. These studies were conducted with a fellowship provided by the International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE).

2008: Dissertation of the PhD: “Micro-mechanical simulation of composite materials using the serial/parallel mixing theory” supervised by Dr. Sergio Oller.

2008-2009: Visiting scientist and Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) department of the West Virginia University (WVU). The main task conducted in this period is the coordination of the “Resilient Tunnel Project” sponsored by Homeland Security (budget > $5,000,000)

2009-2014: Visiting professor at the Science and Nautical Engineering Department (DCEN) of the UPC. The teaching activity is conducted at the School of Nautical Studies (FNB) and at the School of Civil Engineering (ETSECCPB).
