Fernando Salazar received the Degree on Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid in 2002, specializing in Hydraulics. He has worked in several dam and hydraulic projects, as well as in the development of emergency plans and hazard-potential classification of dams (being Mequinenza and Riba-Roja, in the Ebro river, among them). He is working for CIMNE since 2009, where he is the current Project Development Director.

He obtained his PhD at the UPC in 2017, qualified as Excellent Cum Laude. It focused on the application of machine learning techniques to dam monitoring data analysis. In this field, he was winner of an International Challenge organized by Verbund, the greatest hydropower company in Austria.

He has been involved in several research projects in the fields of hydraulics, dam engineering and dam safety. He is author or co-author of 15 papers in scientific journals, and around 50 contributions in conference proceedings.

Javier San Mauro received the Degree on Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid in 2011, specializing in Hydraulics and Energy and his Degree project was related to dam construction. He has fulfilled the Master on Civil Engineering Systems from the Technical University of Madrid in 2014 . He is working for CIMNE since October 2011. Nowadays he is working on the application of numerical methods to projects in the field of dam engineering.

I am right between Engineering and Software development.
Working at CIMNE since 2004, I have been involved and led research projects in a wide range of fields: harbours & waves, oil & gas drilling, aerodynamics, landslides, agriculture,... I developed a software for free surface flows (www.cimne.com/pfem/) and after that, one for particles (http://www.cimne.com/dem/), but I also found myself developing parts of standard CFD and structural (CSM) codes.
In these years I have become an experienced programmer mainly in Object Oriented languages (C++, Python) and also Matlab. Subversion or Git (preferably the second) are a must for the best team work.
As an Engineer, the goal of each project is my main concern, and software is just a handy tool.
The lectures on Theory of Finite Elements and structures given at the University since 2010 were a good complement to my practical work at CIMNE.

Engineering Master by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). Since 1997 is Coordinator of R&D area in Industrial Processes at the Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE). He has coordinated and worked in several research project at autonomic, national and European levels.

His innovation management experience includes the direction of metal R&D Department in COVIT company from 2003 to 2006.

He is Associate Research Professor at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) where he teaches Strenght of Materials and Structural Analysis undergraduate courses (1995 - present).
