	<title><![CDATA[Luis Godoy]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p>I completed my Ph.D. at University College London, in England, in 1979, and &nbsp;worked at the University of Cordoba in Argentina, CONICET in Argentina, West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV, USA, and University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.&nbsp;</p><p>My areas of research interest are analysis and behavior of thin walled structures, with current emphasis on oil storage tanks; computational material science, with emphasis on multiscale analysis of composites and metal alloys; and history of Mechanics.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

	<title><![CDATA[Luis Suarez]]></title>
	<description><![CDATA[<p>Dr. Luis E. Su&aacute;rez is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayag&uuml;ez and the Coordinator of the Structural Engineering Area. He has been involved in research in structural dynamics, earthquake engineering, soil dynamics and random vibrations. He has published 60 papers in refereed journals and 98 conference papers.&nbsp; He has taught graduate courses in Advanced Structural Dynamics, Soil Dynamics, Random Vibrations and Analytical Mechanics in Puerto Rico, USA, Dominican Republic and Argentina.&nbsp; Dr. Su&aacute;rez graduated at the top of his class in the National University of Cordoba, Argentina, in 1981 with an engineering diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. He received his M.Sc. (1984) and Ph.D. degrees (1986) in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech.</p><p>Dr. Su&aacute;rez has directed the thesis of 76 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and is currently the advisor of 9 students. He directed &nbsp;projects sponsored by the US Army Research Office, NSF, NASA, the US Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA, and the USGS. He was in the Editorial Board of the <em>Engineering Structures</em> Journal, the Journal of Vibration and Control and <em>Mechanics</em>. He co-founded in 2001 and is the editor of the <em>Revista Internacional de Desastres Naturales, Accidentes e Infraestructura Civil</em>. He published four books in Structural Dynamics, Programming with Matlab and Structural Analysis with SAP2000.</p>]]></description>

	<description><![CDATA[<p>Professor, Director of the Civil Infrastructure Research Center, Associate Director for Graduate Studies and Research of Civil Engineering and Surveying Department, University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. Research interests include behavior of reinforced concrete structures subjected to earthquake loads, mitigation of natural hazards, and resilience of infrastructure.&nbsp; Some sample publications include &ldquo;<em>Estimating Damage Caused by Natural Hazards for the Insurance Industry in Puerto Rico</em>&rdquo;, published in revista Dimensi&oacute;n in 2005, &ldquo;<em>Effect of the Interior Masonry Wall on the Seismic Behavior of Concrete Houses &ndash; An Experimental Study</em>&rdquo; presented in 14<sup>th</sup> Earthquake Engineering World Conference Beijing, China, and &nbsp;&ldquo;<em>An&aacute;lisis No lineal Est&aacute;tico y Din&aacute;mico de P&oacute;rticos de Hormig&oacute;n Armado con Deficiencia en el Hormig&oacute;n de las Columnas</em>&rdquo; published in Computational Mechanics Journal in Argentina. Dr. L&oacute;pez is member of ACI committee 318H-Seismic Design, and is Secretary of the Earthquake Commission of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
